1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

If you want a high paying local job that isn't trucking, you can go sell cars. I just got out of it because I hate being that smiling kiss ###. I have always been in jobs like that and now want nothing to do with "sales". I sold Chrysler cars for the last three years, right through the virtual collapse of the American car industry, right through chrysler's bankruptcy. I never sold cars before and I made an avg. of 70k a year. It's easy and other than working every Saturday, the schedule is not bad at all. Car dealers hire all the time and with no experience so if you want to try something other than driving it isn't a bad gig. I also used to workout right after lunchtime because 2-5pm is usually slow. Pm me is you have questions.

Car sales was easy for me. I can make anyone really like me for an hour or two. Lol. I just hated, as you said, the "hustling".

Hi, I recently applied for the job with webster out of chester NY and they're paying by hour. I am not comfortable with the calling in dispatch either. I am planning to try it for a week and then I'll see how it goes. I used to work with Central Transport doing local p and d. They shut down the terminal and I wanted to stay local getting home every night. Otherwise I have to move to New Jersey may be deliver fuel or work for Schneider Intermodal in Kearny NJ. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

I made 100k selling ,150k in f&i and as gsm 275k , but now looking at trucking for a few years.

trucking will be a very lowstress job vs the car biz.
