    But,

that paper has a large circulation coverage area.

And, Prime does alot of advertising near there.

Quite a few students from this area went to Prime so far this year....

And i'll be there on the 6th. I read the article in the TBT and as to not hiring out of this area I was told that it is a hiring window that is hardly ever open and about to close. Then again with unemployment around 10% here you would think co's could pick and choose who they want from such a large base of prospective employees. And keep the wheels turning.

It's not about employment pool... It's about available freight.

Florida consumes more than it produces... Which means more freight going in than coming out. That drives freight prices down with more trucks looking to get a load out. Companies don't want to send anymore trucks into a low freight pool area then they have to.

Yes it's a small window and the further you go south in Florida the smaller or non existent that window becomes.

About a year ago there were a few threads about guys looking to move their address to GA or some other state just so they could get hired... And to keep up the ruse and keep their jobs they were going to have to drive home to FL in personal vehicles on home time from wherever they managed to establish residency.

I can relate to your post. I am moving to TN, as no one will hire me.

Yes the big companies will "pay" for a non-CDL holder to go though training, but will not "pay" for an experienced driver to get a refresher course. This is where the true story lies. But I am preaching to the choir here...

On the FL thing. Being from there I have done some heavy research on it. It really does come down to where in the state one lives. It is not just north and south. I live near the right roads that make orlando, Bradenton lakeland and the floral yard with in reason. A little further north or south would make that not true. But south would be far worse.
