You were played. You broke D.O.T. rules in a lame attempt to kiss management's ##s. You have now been upgraded to 'leadman' on the mexican shovel brigade....:biggrin_2559:

I got an email from ryder last week to fill out the full application. I spoke to jennifer I assume who is a recruiter. They have a dedicated mon-fri day shift account by me, home every night paying $23.85/hr. I'm setting up for an interview very soon. Hopefully I get in on this run, seems pretty easy and simple, hauling mail.

Hello Everyone! I am a Ryder employee, in Lafayette Indiana. Some things most won't tell you, is how many ways to get fired. Get a warning ticket for a seatbelt violation in your own personal vehicle, you're fired. Get observed using your cellphone while driving a Ryder vehicle, you're fired. Slip on the ice in a Ryder parking lot, and hurt yourself, RAB.(Risk associated behavior) Three RAB's in three years, your fired. Have a heated argument with anyone, your fired. On a different note, they will guarantee your pay, $700 a week. Unless, they have a work shortage. We just had 4 weeks of 2 and 3 days aweek, followed by 4 full weeks, then a 2 week shutdown.(no pay) Yeah, Ryder is great...

Forgot to mention a big deal for Ryder. Entering and leaving a vehicle using three points of contact. Fail to do so, RAB. And Ryder does what they call safety observations. They will follow you, without your knowledge, and scrutinize your ability to safely operate a truck. Sometimes these observers do not possess a cdl of any kind. Turn your turn signals on or off too early or late, bump a shoulder line, risk associated behavior .

On the Toyota account it's parts in 53' vans, and they require 1yr of tractor trailer experience. I've been with Ryder for 5 yrs and have no complaints other than the occasional layoff due to earthquakes in japan, fuel prices etc... not much Ryder could do about that though.

You could definetly do better than Ryder, as a company driver you're constantly threatened with risk associated behavior write ups the pay is relatively low and the layoffs are high, at least on the toyota account they were. I drove for ryder on that account for 5 years and after the last layoff they called and wanted to place me as a team driver with another driver i didn't know which is to dangerous for me so I decided it was time to move on. Why would you ever want to team drive with someone you know nothing about, drive a subpar tractor, making .32cpm. ryder teamed a couple of drivers up like that a couple of years ago and they were both killed after rear ending another tractor trailer in a construction zone so that was enough to spook me away from team driving.

I worked at ryder on a dedicated it was great pay and benefits. They treated us like gold u was always getting something free and mangement was great if u needed something. And they left you alone to do your job I didn't talk to my manger or see him for 6 months till he called and ask if I still worked for him lol he was joking. Anyways I was laidoff do to automotive slowdown but would go back in a heartbeat if called.

Ryder is hiring in many places, Some drivers find them hard to deal with on the safety things. Seems like a new regulation every month sometimes.
