I have the first one, like it. The 2nd one has some nice features though. Sirus and XM used to be seperate companies, competitors. One or the other bought the other one out (don't remember which one) so now they are the same company.Bigarmin88 Thanks this.

Thanks I was thinking first one also, never had satlelite radio so wasn't sure.

I have a delphi skyfi roady XT, and its ok for an old unit. however i do have some gripes about it. there is no setting to show the channel artist and song at the same time, you only get two of the three.
The units are all about the same, besides you wont be fiddling too much with them as you drive so keep some money in your pocket and spend the money on an upgraded antenna like the mushroom style ones.
Also get the lifetime subscription if it is still available. it will save you from the yearly price hikes -
They should both be fine. The first one is good, but the DVR type features of the second one are great if you have the extra cash to put into it. But you definitely want a new antennae than the one that comes with it. One similar to this one

It will make a huge difference.
Theres little difference in XM and Sirius now that they merged. 90% of channels are the same but there are some differences. Biggest difference is sports. Like XM has Baseball games, but on sirius you have to pay extra for it.Bigarmin88 Thanks this. -
Thanks that's main reason I want to get it,for the baseball games.Do they play all teams or just few games?
-
XM has baseball....
But limited road dog trucking channel...(it is off the air when baseball comes on)
From a technology side, the XM uses 2 Geostationary satellites over the equator...so if you have a pretty good view of the southern sky, you will have great reception...
Sirrirus uses a group of lower altitude satellites....so reception is pretty good, but not quite as good imo and experience....but not enough to make a chouse as to which one....choose by programming...even though they are now mostly the same...
Initially I had the snap in my truck....but that failed, now have the Onyx...Walmart (varies by area..I stopped in WI, it was +15!!) has it for like $59...minus rebate... -
I have several systems, both XM and Sirius, installed and portable systems. At least out here on the west coast, i have WAY more drop outs on XM than Sirius. Both pretty much have similar lineups as mentioned, but do work on different systems.
XM is way more sensitive to drop outs around hills, trees, and overpasses. I do get drop outs with Sirius, but probably over half as many as XM.Bigarmin88 Thanks this. -
Thanks,i'm looking at Sirius, thinking about getting it before I hit the road just to see if I like it.

go with sirius .... xm sucks.....
