I am curious if you have had any dealings with Marten where they promote you to run past your hours of service? Is this just a isolated thing or something that is normal?

When i was on paper logs, about 3 times a month they mor eor less wanted me to. But when i refused to move the truck, they gave up.
Now on Elogs, they don't even bother. They can see my hours on thier screen.

Actually they will use their "5th line". Off-Duty Driving to get a little bit further. If you stay 24 minutes or less per day safety will not bother you about it. Am currently doing a write-up for DOT to show them how driver's are using this without being written up and the computer showing it as an uniterupted break even though the driver could have driven during that time for 24 minutes to get to a delivery ontime or out of picking up a load. I am working with them to show them what to look for besides using the graph screen on the e-logs during roadsides as it will only show off duty to the DOT officer doing the inspection.

drivers who are using line 5 to get to shipper, because they are out of hrs, are getting FIRED. I witnesed a drivier clean out his truck at the Phoenix terminal last week. When i asked him why, he said it was for line 5 violations. Line 5 is only to be used to find safe haven,(1 hr or 50 miles as per Safety Director telling me face to face) or personal conveyance. ie: store, eat, back to terminal from those.
Alot of this heart ache can be stopped on the part of the driver. The driver can us the fmcsa rule bok to his advantege, but some are scared to. They feel as if they refuse to do this they will be fired. But don't look at the long term effects, ie: may not get hired at another company.
I will not let any company tell me to run ilegal.

Again skibum you dn't know what you are talking about. If a driver stays 25 minutes or less safety department does nothing. If the driver goes over this limit they will write-up the driver. Eventually firing the driver if multiple violations over 25 mins. They won't and don't write-up or fire drivers for under 25 minutes ever!!!!!! Their system is only set up to flag over 25 minutes. If the system doesen't flag it they don't look at it. They need to have off-duty driving out of the control of the drivers and in the hands of safety to approve for each instance to make sure request is in compliance with the law like Werner Enterprises.

I can see it now, call saftey at midnite for permission to move out of the dock to get to a safe haven 5 miles away. Sit there on hold for an hour or two, and finally get to sleep at 2 or 3 in the morning. :biggrin_25513:

U got it rachi. Have a problem with it? Talk to the driver's who screwed it up for you. 5 years all companies will be on this system or out of business. Interesting that those who left corp trucking because they couldn't lie on logs and make bunch of money are the ones that put themselves out of business. Don't like it? Then get used to DOT checks every 100 miles or less to verify you are legall. This is coming I believe over the next 5 years. I've changed from driver to working to support drivers legally.

    Go troll someplace.
Don't tell me i don't know what iam talking about. How long have you worked at Marten? 3 weeks? Been there since 2005 So don't tell me i dont know anything.
This was once a great company to work for, i used to brag it up and down as one of the best. Now it one of the worse. Then we get some one like you who thinks he knows it all, saying marten is being investageted, but yet refuses to post any more info than that. PUUP OR SHUT UP.
Edit out names, etc, but post the #### thing already. I don't think you got the balls too.

I'll give you names!!!!!! Carrie, who was the fleet manager for fleet 2 would constantly tell us to run hot!!! "Your a team, you can't run out of hours", "Your a tem, your truck should never stop" "Just because both of you have been up for 16 hours while your truck was being serviced doesn't mean you can't drive all night!" We were on paper logs at the time. Thank God we drive for Southern Cal now. A company that knows how to treat drivers with respect.
