Tank: Agree with everything you have said, but...
If the guy owns a freightshaker and he is happy with it,and that is the truck he wants, so be it?
I have driven a couple of 'shakers. One had nearly a million miles on it and it wasnt a bad truck considering. The other shaker was fairly new but with a million drivers, and that one was in tough shape.
KW owner here. Like the truck, not so much for the name, but because of the specs. It is built well for my work.
I perfer a kw, but am not brand loyal. If the truck is speced right and been a decent truck, it is good for me...:biggrin_25514:
ps.Just a wannabe local/regional trucker here, not a roadie. Home nearly every night, so that is a huge difference from the real truck drivers? The men/women that live in the trucks 24/7 have more brand loyalty?

Winding up the power on an engine with those miles is a bit risky, I would make sure you have few dollars put away in case it doesnt like the extra power.

There are some very helpful, knowledgable members in this community. Dont judge everyone by a couple of blowhards.

1st of all anyone who owns a high power diesel knows that very rarely will full power be applied. I don't why some guys think a 600 hp engine (which ain't all that much) is going to blast down the road full power all the time.

And 2ndly, what does resale value have to do with anything if he's not selling it? It's his toy and a man needs a hobby.

I get my kicks passing Petes and K-Dubs uphills in my value-less Freightliner and show them my CAT mud flaps.

IMO, just make sure you have a pyro, eng. temp. gauges and you'll be good to go.

your not adding that much power. My ecm program added a noticeable power band increase and i have been very happy with the pull on hills and i did'nt lose any mpg's.
