load didn't look like it would scale

    I agree, and the better your set of air scales, the better off you will be, once you get used to working with them, you will wonder how you ever worked with out them.

    I had the factory gage on my truck, and a really nice air scale on the trailer. I was able to make a lot of money with it because it would tell me when I had enough room to throw a LTL on the trailer and when I didnt.

    I run into tail heavy loads Tons...
    I haul lots of water loads in the NE....
    When I get a bad load...I just bring it back with the scale ticket...and they reload it...shifting the singles...USUALLY the worst of the worst loads have the single in the nose..go figure.
    Also when we put as much as 50,000 lbs in a 53' (with a light sleeper) you will have no chance of scaling it if they load it beyond the 48' mark..so if they go even a bit beyond it...the pallets really need to be turned to make it fit within the 48'.
    The loaders have standard load setups based upon the trailer type...but often when i get reloaded, I am told it was "loaded incorrectly". Go figure....
