ready for 600hp?

Talk to PDI, I have a 12.7 with 914,000 on it, its been cared for and I put new rod and main bearings in it last year, but anyway I had pdi put their stage one tune in the ecm thats supposed to add 100hp and 250 ft lbs. of torque. nothing crazy, also added stage one turbo. Runs great, point is guys told me the same thing, that high mile motor will fly apart,hasn't happened yet, and I don't think it will.

 

Hey, if he is happy with the Freightliner and he knows he wants to keep it, by all means, do whatever puts wind in your sails.

What I find and see all to often though, is guys who did love there truck when they started dropping serious coin into it. A year or 2 down the road, your bored of it, you want something new, a change. Now you can't do that, because you financed a new engine and who knows what else. You owe $40,000 on a truck that is worth $15,000 for a trade, or $25,000 cash, IF you can find a buyer.

High power ratings aren't dangerous if the right driver is behind the foot feed, but very few drivers actually know how to use big power efficiently and like a grown up.

Me, I am brand loyal, and I have no qualms with admitting that. Kenworth is my first choice, and Peterbilt my second. It isn't only just for looks. I like doors that shut nice and tight, a good seal so my left leg doesn't freeze off in the winter. When I shut a door, I don't want to hear pieces rattling around inside of it. I also feel they have the highest quality interiors out of everyone out there. They are quiet trucks, built to last forever, comfortable, and they always sell no matter what.

 

Oohh, well now, that changes my advice. Pay the truck off first. Then save up a emergency account. And THEN spend play money on unnecessaries if you want.
