You're full of it too. He got nothing but smart azzed quips about his writing and finally someone said something usefull. Guy is probably hispanic and to him and others his question was just fine. I'll spout my " BS" as long as you Ratville drivers[?} keep jumping on anyone who doesn't tow the company line. I don't crave anything for myself. But I will insist on vets being treated decent when they show up and ask a few simple decent questions. If he didn't do it in as consise a way as you choose it's your problem. Great communicators. That's still the best one I've heard. She must be loaded.:biggrin_2559:

Somebody woke up feeling rather full of himself. Hmmm. It is apparent that you are of the opinion that truck drivers are uneducated moronic half-wits. With the current economic pallor in this country we have all types beginning careers as drivers. They are holders of everything from High School diplomas to Doctorates. There are educators here, city administrators, lawyers, doctors, airline pilots, and life long truckers. All of them deserve respect from everyone here, the last thing we need is ANYONE spoiling for a fight.:biggrin_25512: It seriously detracts from the integrity of the forum.

KINDLY KEEP THE NAME CALLING AND PERSONALLY INFLAMMATORY REFERENCES TO YOURSELF.:biggrin_25516:

Having read the post myself, I can tell you this ... with the width of computer monitor screens a post without general spacing and paragraphs is next to impossible to get through without missing important information. My response regarding this was simply an attempt to get him to reformat his questions so we wouldn't miss any. That it's all degraded to this state of name calling and other negative bullcrap is, well, rather sad. Most of us are here to help.

    Can you say the same?:biggrin_25510:

I sincerely appreciate your service to our country, assuming you're a vet. I think we all do. No one here was mistreating him because he's a vet, but then just because you're a vet doesn't garner you anything in the way of special treatment. And most vets that I know wouldn't want it anyway. But I'll never appreciate the crap you're slinging here. Move on if you're feeling this way ... we don't really need your input, if it's going to be adversarial and negative.:biggrin_25513:

I got an email from the Stevens school that included only one thing...no words, just the Texas CDL. I took the hint!

Well, Guy Morris, I was going to read the original post that everybody was talking about, but then I found it. Oh, man! One VERY long, run-on paragraph with no punctuation breaks and I didn't even start. I am sure I missed some important stuff, but I could not get myself to work that hard on this small screen.

One thing in your favor, though. You're one of the few to use your and you're correctly! Well done!

Just work on the spelling and find the space bar and ENTER key; feel free to use them with reckless abandon! We all will appreciate your insight and wisom.

Got a new situation developing here. See if any of you have had this happen.
If I shut off my truck when it's warm, it won't start. Acts like a dead battery. Wait 10-15 minutes, starts right up. Guage shows it's charging properly when running, Inverter shows 12.6-12.8 volts, so that's good.
Recently changed one battery when the post melted off. Other two are about a year old.
thinking it might be a starter.
    Any thoughts?
Have load headed for Ft Worth for friday delivery. As much as I hate to do it, thinking of heading into yard for them to fix. At least the yard works weekends.
    Any thoughts anyone?

I can understand his reasoning. Back in the day when I drove for Stevens, it was expected that IBP loads would take hours to days before they would be ready. Same with produce loads out of Cali or Arizona. But back then we didn't have that 14hr clock dogging our ### like it does now.

I spent 10 years in the battery industry, just a couple of questions/observations. What happened to melt a post off a battery? If it was a bolt post(threaded stud), those take a much more intense short to melt than the standard lump of lead post.

Also, not sure how accurate the volt meter on the inverter is, but without a load, good batteries right after shutting off the truck will read close to if not at 13.0 Volts. Charging voltage(while running) should be 13.8-14.2.

A battery is dead at 12.25 and fully charged at 12.75. That's right, .5 volt difference when the capacity is all discharged.

Don't ever believe the myth that driving for 20 minutes will "recharge" a dead battery. It will put a "surface" charge on it, but expecting the maintenance system in a vehicle to charge a battery is like trying to fill a 55 gallon drum with an eye dropper. You can do it, but it's going to take a while.

Rule of thumb, it takes about 30 minutes or 30 miles to put back what you take out just starting a vehicle.

All that said, it does sound more likely that you have a starter issue. Sounds like the old GM problem.
