From what I have been reading this seems to be a good combination.

To me the overall interior build is better on a KW than a frtl is. I think Peterbilt and KW are the BMW and Mercedes of trucks. We've been looking for a truck lately and just can't get over how "cheap" the interior and finish is of a frtl. So my vote is the KW.

As for motor I'm not a fan of Detroit, but I shouldn't make any judgement since I've only ran a Cat. But from what I hear you can always tell when a Detroit is out of oil...it will quit leaking. I've heard both good and bad about both Cummins and Cat. I'd get an ISX or a C-15 if I had to choose today.

If you are going to go KW, look into the MX12 engine. The ISX is a piece of ####. Some many problems w/ EGR, Turbo, EGR and oil coolers. The MX has been proven around Europe for the last 10 years, and PACCAR has all their money riding on this new power plant. They also have a policy that any needs for this engine at the parts or service level are treated with the utmost priority, any and all truck down parts will be flown at PACCAR's expense to which ever dealer requires them. PACCAR is very serious about making this power plant the signature engine of NA.

i have no idea why your not looking at a pete. But to each his own, truck paper.com is a good place. If your going OTR, A peterbilt is gonna give you the best bang for the buck, if you choose correctly. anyway thats my opinion....good luck..Cat fan myself

If you are going to buy a KW or even a Pete, you would be miles ahead to get a truck with a 6NZ 3406E, by far the best engine produced imho

Id go with a pete or kw with the cat or cummins. I was always told detroits are an ok motor but they are not as powerful as a cat or cummins. I have drove trucks with them motors and have figured out that threr right. The only way I could get the detroit to even come close to having half the power that the cat or cummins had is to slam my hand in the door when i was getting in the truck to be in the right mood to drive it.:biggrin_25523:
