Super secret Eh? Did I start a new vocab word?! I'm not sure about parking. I've always been going in in the afternoon after high tailing it from somewhere in Ohio. I think you may be able to get away with parking on...Dowd? My experience there has been that they are fast in there, in which case you should be fine.

When I say fast, I mean it!

Yes indeedy do that was me in Warners. After that I had to run up to Williamson to load for Manassas but I switched out with another driver, kind of a time killer but Cory needed some help. Then I had to load in Rochester & surprise surprise it took for ever to get loaded since they were still waiting on product. As far as Elizabeth goes I'm usually in the same boat as Brian, but I've heard from other drivers that it you turn right out of the gate there is a cul de sac you can park in. I've never been back there but that info came from guys I know that don't blow smoke up my wazoo.

Thanks guys. I got in and got out, like you said. 28 minutes from park-on-the-street to pulling out of the door empty.
Now I'm parked for a break, going down to New Castle, DE for bananas. I'm going in at 0800 tomorrow...and they're supposed to be in Chicago at 0400 Friday. Heh. Heh heh. Yeah.
Apparently they were supposed to load today.
Anybody else get screwed up by the 80 EB shut down in East PA today? That's why I can't make it to the shipper in Delaware right now. Burned up just enough time rolling slow through the detour to keep me from getting all the way there.
I think I could be okay with Jersey if I was here more, but I'm not so sure I want to try it. I did my trucking-teething in Southern California, and I'd much rather take that cluster over this one. Mainly, I dislike Jersey (and, frankly, fear NYC) because the exits and surface street just make no logical sense to me. None. I do it, 'cause it's my job, but it's not real enjoyable out in this neck. -
Well Highfalls Brewery in Rochester is proving its slow track record as much as Elizabeth proved its speed record. Got here at 1430, soon done. And of course I got too busy with personal affairs to make any detention alert calls, though I don't know if we even get anything out of these guys anyway.
Anybody been to Lorton, VA before? I don't have a delivery time yet. Do they have a window?
Mark have you been to Atom before? You can go in the night before and park in a door. You'll need $30 cash for a "gate fee". Directions are kinda screwy. I forget if the first or the second set is the one to pay attn to. OK I just checked the sat view. You want to make the right off Damen before Blue Island, onto Walcott. I believe it is signed International Produce Market. Going in the night before is recommended, as that place is nuts in the morning. Lot is secure. If all the doors are full, there is a staging lot to your right all the way down as you come through the guard shack.Last edited: Aug 17, 2011

Yea you gotta love NJ, compact and one dimensional. NY on the other hand, well I believe they make it up as they go along? Went to Long yesterday, and much like NY city proper, if you get lost your up the creek.
You gotta love the driving though, it's wide open and get outta the way!
Brian, never been to Lorton as far as your location, from my understanding it's typical Northern Virginia, screwed up!
Be safe all -
I saw a day cab Van Wyk Freight Lines truck at Burger King in Davenport today. That's the one based in Grinnell, right? Is there a relationship between the two?

Very distant cousins is what I hear.

@ Brian: Thanks (genuinely) for the heads up on Atom...but between you and the weird directions on the qcomm I just got more confused!
But it's all good. I couldn't get there to park overnight anyway (which I knew going into the load) so I just called them this morning to confirm.
The short version: if you're coming into Atom between 1500-2300, enter from Damen, not Wolcott. Otherwise, either entrance is good. The directions addendum seems like it was written by some poor sod that just had a really bad day.
