That must be new. Did they do it in house or send it out to a lab? My doctors office has the lab equipment on sight, so I get the result back in 5. Before that it would take a week.

its a clinic and yes they have thier own lab the a1c was a finger pric like you do with your glucose monitor its a funny little device that was a one time use type of thing and the urin test was strips like the dot doc uses.

Wait, are you in Dallas? All they ever did there was a standard glucometer done by the nurse in the office. Just like the one I use at home. And in the truck, and at the restaurant.....

An A1C test needs lab equipment, they didn't have that equipment in 09 when I was there, but maybe I missed something and you are NOT at the Dallas yard.

Wow, I missed a couple of posts. I thought you were getting an A1C in Dallas at the in house doc. My bad.

You won't be running into me anytime soon as I am currently driving a desk. I was doing ok at Stevens until I opted for the lease program. I had a real run of bad luck/break downs/stupidity on my part that ended me up almost 3K in the hole. Couple that with not being home but twice in 8 months for any real chunk of time and I hung it up.
Collected unemployment for a while, went to college for a while, then just as my benefits ran out got a job where I am being paid to post on this forum. Not really. I actually write code for a large IT company, who shall be nameless.

For a while. Never say never.

I'm starting to feel that itch.

BTW, as far as I know Stevens has only one "Terminal" in Dallas, they have a drop yard in Laredo, tx that has showers, landry and great AC last time I was there as well as TV. They have a few other drop yards, but I don't know of one in Houston, but you can secure the truck at just about any KW/PB dealer for home time. Just get the number and call ahead and ask the dealer if they have room for you to park.

To quote the safety director "I can teach you 100 ways to park the truck, but I can't teach you to drive it on ice, and don't want to." If the weather/road conditions scare you, park the truck, call safety and let them know. I only had to do it once, but 5 minutes after I parked in Limon, CO, they closed every road in the state.

You can get more recent advice in the Stevens Aviary thread, a lot of those folks actually still work there. I haven't received a card or letter from Stevens in a couple of months asking me to come back, I wonder if they are mad that I was successful at filing bankruptcy on all that money I owed them?

Anyway, no worries, I am happy to have things to fill my time while my code is "compiling". Bug away. Time to head home. Later.
