Welcome aboard Dozzer. Good choice on the per diem decision.

Look for #2844 and say hi.

Well it's a bummer, but I am sitting at home waiting to find out when I will be going out with a trainer and who it will be. Had one trainer try and help out, but the stars did not align for me. Big class through Brooks last week so now I wait. I just hope it's not to long. I will call on Tuesday if I don't know anything. I will update when I can.

Hope you get with a trainer soon. I heard that May is short on trainers relative to the amount of new hires they have had to bring in recently...a LOT of drivers have quit there recently.

When I was hired there back in 2009, I waited about 10 days to get on a trainer truck.

You did right by not electing the per diem. You'll get that money come tax time. So now you get your cake and eat it too. Not all think that part out long term.

Good luck with the next phase!

It's not so much that they had a bunch quit, as they are buying new trucks. Trading like 200 in, buying 300 (numbers are for demo purposes lol)
Sorry it didn't work out Dozzer, if it's any consolation...a brake drum backing plate is cracked, and I'm stuck here at Brooks now...

I heard around 40 quit around 4th of July, making drivers sit waiting for loads when they wanted off and didn't. get any.

Perhaps if your trainee tested out he can hitch a ride with someone else headed to Layton then I could still get on the truck. :biggrin_255:

Just ya know, thinking outside the box. Of course don't know the big picture of it all though so I am not being serious. I do appreciate the offer though. One thing I have noticed about May is that all of the drivers and trainers so far have been very nice and very helpful and very friendly. I have yet to feel the "oh look at the noob" feeling from anyone. Which is really cool.

That is true never met anyone unhelpful at May except unfortunately my DM but I think that's a rare case. I was having issues sliding my tandems back at Coors and out of nowhere there was another May driver helping me. I hadn't even gotten to the wtf look. I think he could sense it was coming lol.
