I answered the other thread you posted on by mistake. All thier operations run out of Dallas as far as I know.

Stevens Transport has one Terminal, Dallas Texas. You will be assigned a driver manager, no choice on your part. Each phase of training you will change driver manager, then after grad fleet you will be assigned a "permanent" driver manager. All operations are handled in Dallas.

    Wtank7588 Thanks this.

Well I got my produce picks done, but am still in California. Was only able to make it to Coachella today... a nice 120 this afternoon too :biggrin_25513:due in Laredo Monday AM... If I push hard, which I will have to with my log book hours, I will arrive in Laredo on Sunday, but will be totally out of my 70 in 7 days, and picking up 0 on monday. sure hope they let me drop it, and have a local deliver this load to the forwarding company.

What are the chances of running a lot of Southwest with Stevens? I live in Georgia but I love driving Texas-California when driving OTR.

    Still in the yard.
cleared all my requirements in 20 minutes yesterday. They sent my truck to TK for a compressor bracket. Came back this morning. Waiting to get into shop for starter issue.
Saw a doozy here this morning. New driver, new truck. signed lease yesterday. pulling frontwards into dock area to load truck (over by the basketball hoop). Drove off the edge of the ramp into the lower 'pit' area.
Two wreckers in there now trying to lift and pull it out.
Then training took him up on the hill to do a skills evaluation. He failed both the serpentine and the hunts point.
this is his third wreck and just out of grad fleet.
me thinks someone heading back to a trainer.

signed a lease?!?!?!?!?! u know thats a losing situation for you right? el oH! el, the more failed leases, the more money stevens makes, why lease and you can finance a rig, and if u can't finance a rig and put a 10-20% down payment, then your not ready for the owner operator world. stevens lease drivers are just glorified COMPANY drivers....nothing more, i'd renig that contract if i were you before they issue you a truck and send you out ;)

Stevens is my #1 trucking company choice--I want to become an Alliance driver--and the one hard choice I have to make is whether to pay a highly recommended CDL school here in Michigan ($4,995, which I can afford) and work on the reimbursement OR go to the Stevens Academy, learn their way in their trucks (pretty much the same ones I will drive) and only owe them time.

I would have to take two CDL tests, Texas and Michigan, and spend a few weeks with a roommate sleeping in a bed other than my own. I know the decision is entirely mine but your input would be helpful, as long as it's good feedback. One of Stevens' recruiters I saw in person didn't seem to think very highly of their training academy and I wonder why.

Stevens Driving school does a fine job of getting you your CDL. So if that were your only affordable option then I would go that route. I did myself and it worked out great. But with that said, if you can afford to get your CDL at a private school, I would recommend doing that. You come out a lot cheaper in the long run.
