You sound like you can handle it.
    Now the worst part.
    Pay isn't all that good.
Yes to live a dream can be worth more than money.

Yea you are right there. Starting pay for my deal is only .26 a mile. So it will be a tight budget for a while. The pay does go up fairly quickly but still you are absolutely right! Just takes patience and a good outlook I guess to get past that first year. But anything worth having is worth working for right?

sure, take the laptop! get a laptop case with room for a notebook, lotsa paper, logbook, fmcsa manual, pens, calculator, and rulers. and keep it with ya!

    :biggrin_255:

you mentioned the 60 hour range... after you spend 40 hours on permit prep (do your endorsement tests too) you spend a total of 120 on the range and OTR classes. range first week: pre trip, couple/uncouple, city driving, etc. our first time in a tractor on the road was an automatic tranny International with an empty 48' trailer. 2nd day on the range, too. start big, go big!!

    Great
    Don't sweat the small things
Two duffel bags worth of stuff should be all your taking.
Most trainers have a truck full of stuff already.

Something that worked really well for my boyfriend was one of those clipboards that opened up. He could store his pens and papers and books inside, it had a clipboard and a calculator on the clip. I got it at Wally World for about $10, but I have seen them elsewhere.
