Hi everybody! I'm Tina and I am a 23 year old, happily married, full-time student from Fort Worth, Texas! (Originally, Houston). My husband recently got a job with Maverick and is leaving his current city job to live his dream, which has always been going "over the road".

I've decided to give up my life here in Texas and go with him!

Just wanted to say hi to everybody!

    Mastertech Thanks this.

    Hello and welcome Tina!

So, what is your job at the moment?
Can you take it with you in the truck, and work online, or something like that?
Are you sure you want to abandon your career, it gets dull out there afer a few months if you are not driving, and you might want to go back to work.

And are you ok with not having a shower everyday?
Some truckstops are cleaner than others, and you are going to havve to adapt to some basic living.

Not trying to be negative , just realistic.
Go for your CDL and team drive, or else think long and hard about what you are giving up.

    Just my 2c worth.
Let us know how it goes out there!

Thank you, DogKnot! Glad to be here!

Mrs. T, I am unemployed. I was going to school full-time. I can take most of it with me, because the majority of my classes were online. My only problem is that if I needed a conference with my professor, I would be out of luck, being on the road and all.

I have heard that truck-top showers were dirty, but I think I can manage. I'll read up on the good places to stop before we do. I also have a bunch of family/friends in various states.

    Thank you for responding!

Ummmm...I'm not sure how to sugar coat this so I won't even try...

Do you mean go with him for a few weeks...or all the time?

I drive for Maverick, been with them for a while...and lots of places he will be loading will not allow you to be there (all of the steel mills)...meaning you'll have to wait in a truck stop or something (not as glamorous as it sounds).

Its one thing to go with him for a week or so...maybe even a month...but staying with him all the time will be problematic...for all parties involved.

Maverick is a great place to work...and your man has chosen well, but I think you should reevaluate your decision to give up your life and go with him.

I don't mean to offend or bring bad news...just to offer honest advice for the good of both you and him (and his new job)

Ridgerunner665, yes, I meant go with him all or most of the time. We understand that I won't be allowed to go to certain places. I don't mind waiting in a truck-stop, a mall, or a restaurant with a good book while he does his business. As long as I don't have to be away from him for two-three weeks at a time. Thank you for your concern and bringing up a good point :) And thanks for responding!
