So I've got $50k My plan is to purchase A Truck and reefer (so i can run both dry and Reefer freight?) for $30K?
$6-7k on Authority, Insurance, plates, Ifta, Permits etc. $10=13k left for fuel, breakdowns, maintance. Running out of arizona.

My question is with an $800 monthy payment on my loan, plus Insurance, fuel, maintance etc.
running 2000-2500 miles a week can I make enough money in this economy to cover my bills and have alittle money to live on running strictly off brokerd loads?

What can I expect to make on Loads running west of the mississippi as far as per mile im estimating on $1.75?

Ive been in this business for 7+ years so know some ends and outs.

Im really business oriented so taking care of taxes, banking, should be no problem?

Just alittle worried in this economy to go and spend the money I have no bills in my life other then cell phone?

If you're buying a truck and reefer for $30k, you better have about another $10k on deck for reconditioning expenses for the first few months (or days!). Based on what I've been through the past six months, I'd say you're on track to earn about $20k the first year if you don't fail due to cash flow problems.

I'll leave the doom, gloom, and second guessing to others, but I'd say you're underfunded by about $25k. I'd recommend you read the stickies in this section and rethink your equipment costs and operating capital.

California's additional requirements could also impact your plan substantially. Both with the truck and the reefer. Where you're located, that's a pretty big market to have to avoid. Lots of threads on that topic here as well.

A agree with Red Foreman, especially in Cali. Yon need to get a reefer that is CARB compliant. My suggestion for a truck, 2007 or newer, a reefer that 2007 or newer. At least your equipment will last you 7 yrs if you run to Cali. Thats if we doing "fall off into the ocean". lol

Only way I can see you making it is by starting out with leasing to a company. Going it on your own is going to be very tough and as Red stated, you are under funded by about $25-$30k. Have you thought about leasing to IWX or maybe even SouthernCal ??? This way you can get your foot in the door, have somewhat of a saftey net, you can buy a nicer truck since you won't need a trailer and you can also make some contacts with customers for when and if you decide to go get your own authority???

I agree with all the above and freight has dropped somewhat and so have the rates without the right contacts it would be very hard
