NO the So Called Super Centur comes after the second Lease not the second year. It just looks fancier and stuff. not sure on the actual specs of the truck other than it will prolly be expensive.

They expect you to stay in the truck indefinately and they get you into the northeast and want you to run these little shorty runs that don't pay crap. all they do is run you out of hours and you don't gross enought to cover your fixed costs. Another note! these whoop and holler about becoming a trainer. WELL GUESS WHAT? The "TRAINER" is responsible for the trainee. Including his or her pay. sometimes the trainee gets a check and the "TRainer" doesn't. They wind up using you to run cheap freight across the country. I have heard too many trainers complain they have too much time on the loads. So basically they use teams to hual solo freight. Hardly a motive to become a trainer I would think. Not to mention as the lease operator you are stuck with all the liabilities. Do you think if your trianee runs over and kills somebody that "PRIME" is gonna ride in on their whiter horse to save the day? ME THINKST NOT. Yeah they seem to think class a CDL license holders owe them a free ride through life. Of course evenstill untill I find something else worth doing I will stay here. hopefully recover something out of this nonsense when theh lease is done. Then I am gone.l

'The Trucking Companies as a' whole need to change what they are doing!
1 Start by treating employees like people not computer chips.

:biggrin_2555:I have heard alot of things frm leasers, I think the companies like to make BIG promises of "more money" to be made. DO any leasers sit down and do a cost per cost (company pays/lease payments and all that goes with LEASING) my advise to anyone is DO NOT sign a lease with any company until you check out ALL options. I was a trainer and that is what I showed people then it was up to them at least they were pre-warned before losing anything. Stay safe

If you decide to lease or purchase a truck make sure you have money saved and from what I've read on these boards don't do it with winter coming on because freight slows down. Do it in March of 2008, that way when frieght picks back up you can run hard and save money so if freight is slow next winter or anytime you'll have some money in savings to cover yourself. The reason for most small business that fail no matter what industry is lack of capital. What ever you figure it takes to run for 6 months ie; Fuel, Repairs, Tires, Oil Changes and your personal expenses at home is what you should have in savings before leasing or purchasing a truck. Probably minimum $25,000-$50,000 to be safe. Think of worse case scenario you fall and get hurt and can't drive for 3 months.

It looks like the lease payments with Prime are $600-$800 a week, but that does include taxes, permits and most of your insurance. If you purchase a new truck out right with no money down your looking at probably $1,500-$2,000 minimum a month before taxes, permits insurance. If you purcahse a used rig make sure you have money saved up. There are other companies who do the lease also, check with them you may save money of weekly payments.

My advice here does not come from alot of trucking background just business background. Yes and I learned alot of it by making bad mistakes and not investigating enough. So do your homework and DON"T RUSH into anything. But I've also done well when I did my homework and wasn't afraid to ask questions.

PS. DON'T WORRY THAT SOME BIG COMPANY IS MAKING MONEY, ALL THAT MATTERS ARE YOU MAKING ENOUGH, IF NOT DROP THE LEASE AT LEAST WITH PRIME IT'S A WALKWAY!

    Best of Luck

Why not lease if your a company driver? With Prime, your making more money as a lease operator then a company driver (with someone else) so give it a whirl. If it doesnt work out, go back to your last company job!? Company driver you earn ? Lease operator you make more, and owner op even more!! DRIVE SAFE!

I agree but I think people should get their feet wet first! Need time just to learn the business before trying to run a business.
