Oh, ok. Can't help there and wouldn't know where to even begin. Maybe call Topeka and ask directly? I would think that would be public domain, but again don't know all the legal stuff.

    From that link:

It's apportioned. That makes it nondiscriminatory to interstate commerce. Unless there's a minimum tax, or intrastate truckers are treated differently, it looks legal to me.

One thing that bothers me on this.....

I wonder if my current company is paying this on my truck or not.

The KS property tax absolutely has to be the most invasive b s tax there is. Just filled out the paperwork for it again this year & still do not understand their logic behind having a separate collection enitity. Charge the amount needed in the fuel/tolls & move on.

Also since AZ was mentioned, it was the highest cost per mile for renewal on my IRP this year. The paperwork is out in the truck & thinking it was close to $100 for 1200 miles ran in that state. May have to start dramatically consolidating states between taxes & licensing.

Finally someone who feels they same as I do. If they want to charge the companies that are based in their state, I have no objections but to try and impose their taxes on truckers who run through their state to get to another state, I think it is unconstitutional. I don't have a company based in those states and therefore I feel I don't owe them anything other that the IFTA I file each quarter. Kentucky not only gets the IFTA taxes but a surcharge and then you have to file their form and pay more.

Couple of questions for the O.P., how are they getting your mileage? If you are only lic. for 26,000 and under and IF you only have two axles on the power unit you should not be be on an IFTA roll call.

What are you mainly hauling and what type of rig are you driving? Also to all of the others that have been on this thread, besides Ad Val. tax how many of you have been hit with the Nexus taxes for varied states?

    Thanks Stan

Kentucky - Weight Distance Tax, New Mexico - Weight Distance Tax - Oregon, Kansas, Arkansas. Kentucky and New Mexico you have to file every quarer, Oregion you pay when you enter and leave the state - permits. I tried to avoid Kansas and Arkansas, but they sent you a bill. It is nothing but a rip off to out of state truckers going through their state to get to their to the state they are delivering to. It should be outlawed. Or do like I do route around ther states as much as possible and don't haul into their state.

True, but we were talking about the 26,000 lbs area.

I remember something about Arkansas in the past and their fees on out of state trucks.

They just need to have one flat system nation wide. Each state can charge what ever they want on IFTA, but eliminate the weight distance- fuel permit garbage in favor of one flat system. They would still get their money, probably more if it were truly a simplistic step.
