Hello everyone. I've been reading up on truck driving on this site for a few weeks now. Definitely learning some stuff! Thanks for all of your wisdom. I just picked up a book to read too, written by a veteran with 25 years of OTR experience.
I plan on researching trucking for a bit before making a decision on whether to do it, or not. If I do get into it, is Indianapolis a good place to be as far as companies that hire, routes, getting home, etc?
I'm still trying to find out what would be the best CDL route. I won't have the money to spend on it myself. Someone mentioned that it could be free at a community college, but I'm not sure how that's possible.
Thanks for the help!
Is Indianapolis a good location?

Indy is a great location for a trucker. Major freight lanes through there. And some companies offer free training. Prime Inc is one of them.
ddsindy Thanks this. -
Indy is a great place,, While we hire mostly O/O we do have company drivers out of Indy, Lot of good loads around there

Agreed almost any where in Indiana is great for truckers. Lots of terminals in and around Indy and even more DC's scattered throughout the state. TMC, Celedaon, GTI, and of course Venture (lol) all have terminals in Indy just to name a few.

Thanks for the replies! I figured it should be with 3 interstates going through it, and another (I-69) ending in it.
My brother-in-law is currently with his trainer. Lives in Idaho, but they were going through here last night on their way to Kentucky.
I would consider Prime and Schneider as possibilities so far. Still looking to see if there's anything local and under the radar as far as companies. The ones that don't do mass advertising. -
I think that Knight also has a terminal on the SW side of town, on Holt Road.

As much as I hate to mention it Werner has a terminal in Indy as well.
