So what is the motor of choice now that cats are dead. Back when i drove west coast the big cats ruled the interstate, cummins is a high rpm motor before it will pull and some say the big detroit d-16 falls on its face after 1500 rpms. Cummins never had a motor that would out pull a c-16 600hp cat.
What motor do you want ?

Cats were always known for having to turn more to produce the same torque Cummins did at lower Rs.... I dont get this info... or maybe you were dealing with a very specific low HP Cummins....? -
DD60, N14, 3406E, ISX, C13, C15, C16... I can work with them all. The motor I absolutely DO NOT want is the Volvo D16. Powerful motor, but much too problematic for my liking. I would only use a Mack E7 for a vocational truck application, and would probably avoid the E9, as well - it's a fantastic motor, but a very uncommon one. I'd want something where I knew I could get parts for it if I needed them.
virgil tatro and BigJohn54 Thank this. -
I want a motor that runs on water instead of diesel, makes 700hp, never needs a top end, never needs an oil change, will get 100mpg from that water and goes 5mil between rebuilds. I think TransAM promises this with every new lease.
DrtyDiesel, Lonesome, SHC and 7 others Thank this. -
Now that I don't doubt!
