Delivered early this morning in Philadelphia... Dispatcher had a load already planned out to get me on hometime on time.... Delivered to Beer Distributor and grabbed a backhaul from same location to take back to Trenton, OH. Parked in Bentleyville, PA. for my break...only had 7 hours avail. today due to running roll-overs but will be in Trenton in the morning then deadheading to Lapel, IN. to take a few days off. Have relatives that live just outside Lapel so visiting them and heading to Chicago to see my girls sister graduate from US Navy bootcamp. Yall be safe out there.
P.s. - Sully..I'm parked next to your old truck.... Can't miss that truck....you would think they would match the paint on the hood alittle better...LOL -
so this might be a stupid question lol but im just curious, what kind of navigation does millis give you guys? is it just like mapquest on paper? or do u guys have gps's installed? or do u have to find your own way? im just curious how you guys get around with the big trucks and not get into trouble with little downtown streets that arent made for trucks and buses

MissAlyssa, the trucks do not come with a gps or navigation device. However when you get a load on the QC beside the customer name there will be a abbreviated word for the customer. This is for looking up directions which are put in the QC by other drivers. Simply hit macro 35 and put the abbreviated word in and in bout 30 seconds your have a set of directions to get you to the customer. Now I also have a GPS like many other drivers but use it mostly as a reference tool to where I'm goin. Also I use my motor carriers atlas daily. That way I have 3 tools to help me plan, and run my route. I hope this helps. Good luck with your training.
MissAlyssa07 Thanks this. -
Do any of you drive truck number 8124 ? (too lazy to look back through previous post)
Went to the doc today for a check up. Looks like it will be March/April 2012 before he will release me. So I have 7-8 months to go before I can apply with Millis. Kind of bummed but the time will pass by fast. Spring may work out better as far as learning to drive a truck anyway. -

Had the first sugery in Feb. so I was hoping first of the year to get going but no such luck. The neuro doc seeing me is really good so I understand where he is coming from. He knows what he is talking about. -
Understand the directions are only from the local area into the customer for the most part. As stated before - you'll need an atlas and if you want a GPS to get from pick up to delivery. Also know sometimes the directions given to a customer are given from someone that doesnt understand we are 70+ feet long and 13'6 high so they dont always route you with that in mind.
I use the Garmin Nuvi (Truckers Edition) and in the year+ that I have had it - it hasnt failed me yet. I also plan my route with my atlas as well to ensure my route.MissAlyssa07 Thanks this. -
