I am starting with Quest Liner out of the Washington indiana Terminal.. These guys so far are great. Mike the terminal manager really works with you and so does Tim the regional Manager. They run a lot of North Carolina, Texas, Canada and Midwest... I will keep you all updated.
-
I see the trucks all over the place I'd say you will keep busy....good luck

Thanks Ground-- Been a while since I have been yanken a tank.. I first did Smooth Bore tankers for Strauss Veal feeds hauling to veal barns all over the mid-west for my uncle Don Strauss.. I love tanker work,, I have been in operations for 10 years now and just needed a break and wanted to get back on the rode.

I was hired at trans tech, then the pay went from 65k to 45-50k. The guys at QC in florida, claim 65k a year. The job does not pay this,I can,t move to another town, buy a better vehicle to commute to work, for 45-50k. The search goes on,I guess.
-
i'm assuming you've checked out Schneider bulk, even though they don't have Macks. -
I doubt he would make much more than 45-50K at Schneider.

I know the Quest Guys out of Washington do 60 plus pretty easy

I could be wrong on this now. Ran into an old friend from Prime on the tanker side. According to him they finally admitted they had problems and "cleaned house". He was telling me about his loads and what they pay.
After looking at his Qualcomm, I can verify that the loads pay much better now than they did when I was there. He is now doing very well. Based off his load revenue messages on Qualcomm, knowing what the expenses are at Prime, and what he said he was bringing in ($1800 a week in pocket was a bad week) I'd say Prime may be a good deal now. He is also home every week and sometimes a couple times a week, just depends on the loads he takes or refuses.
If one does go down this road I advise to still be be skeptical. Based off the way they were before and certain fleet managers giving certain drivers good loads all the time to use them as recruiting tools, he could just be one of the "recruiting tools" now. On the other side, if they did really "clean house," this could be a great gig. I'm not there, so I can't say. Just thought I would pass along the info.
If I were going to go back though, I'd talk to a lot more people. If you do talk to drivers, ask to see their Qualcomm. Most of them would be happy to show you the revenue info on there. If enough people (like 7 out of 10) were doing well, then I'd venture to say they may have cleaned up their act at Prime. -
I want to put in a good word for McKenzie Tank Lines. Started with them back in April '08. Their based out of Tallahassee and have over a dozen different terminals primarily on the Gulf Coast with one in Chicago,IL. I was out of the Pasadena, TX yard. They have local, regional,OTR, and a team operation that runs a dedicated acct. from Houston to North Carolina (drop and hook). The only trucking company I have ever worked for that has actually paid me layover, detention, breakdown, etc...they even covered the hotel bills. They did make quite a few mistakes but always got them corrected. End of the day I would give them a grade of a "B".
