sounds like the tension spring on the linkage fell off. do like another post said get under your truck and put a bunge cord on the linkage if you dont want to tear your dash apart looking for the spring. did it on a 2000 model far as i know its still on there.

I have a rattle in my 08 Pete and it is next to the frame rail on drivers side. A piece that connects to the chassis to hold the linkage up is wiggling. Same as yours, under torque rattle.

A lot of the time the heim joints wear out and start to rattle a little bit....It can be pretty annoying.
They're fairly cheap and they're easy to replace yourself. -
Check the thru shaft on the bell housing where the grease fitting are. The holes can get a worn and cause the shaft to vibrate and the noise will rattle all the linkage including the foot paddle.

Its just the Eaton clutch.
