Actually, Fontana is the only orientation site on the west coast. Portland has training, but only after you finish your three weeks (approx) in Fontana. The first 4 days is a combination of classroom and driving. You will have a driving test at the end of the first four days. Next comes a week with a Training Engineer. Then back to fontana for another week of Qualcom, trip planning, and final drive test. The last week is the hardest. The trip planning test is a boogger.

Okay thanks. I start school the week after labor day and Schneider is probably my preferred company at this point. Apparently they're one of the 5 or 6 outfits that sends a recruiter to every class.

    Greetings All,
I am starting my orientation at Fontana on the 31th of August. Any words of wisdom? Also can someone explain how the pay works? The recruiter only could tell me 0.27/mile. Although at school we were told starting pay is 0.28/mile. Is there any other pays like layovers etc...? And when does the CPM increase?

Schneider on the 31st???? What the F###?!

You'd almost be done and in your own truck boss........:biggrin_25516:

Having a blast at Watkins Shepard......:biggrin_25525:

Four from the class that just finished today are heading out to pick their trucks up. There is just me and another in this class and we are moving pretty quickly, so who knows when we might be able to get out and into our trucks....

I'll call you tomorrow to see if you're still alive and to make sure Schneider didn't sell you into the oldest profession.... :biggrin_2559:

Yeah I'm kind of back and forth myself on whether I want to try Schneider or Watkins Shepard. Schneider pays a bit better to start but they seem a little bit more "nanny state" with the rules, and the consensus seems to be that they run the junkiest equipment.

Hey guys, so after reading these posts I'm just curious, does SNI use both urine AND hair follicle drug testing or one or the other?

Yes, they use both. As I understood, SNI is looking for 5 months history. Urine gives 30 days, folicle tells it up to 5 years.

    hanhmyster Thanks this.

When I went to Fontana, I had to to a urine and hair follicle a week before showing up and did a job fitness physical at Fontana. Some in the class did the physical before showing up so it kind of depends on your situation and where you live.

Just finished my first week solo! It has been great. Still a lot of things to learn but everything is progressing. Portland OC is great. So far a very good experience.
