They do blow. I am sitting at home right now, and have waited for over a week now and they said they would have my new "team" driver by today. No sign of the man, who is a two month student. PAM will HOLD you to a six month TEAM driving assignment. In the beginning I was with a trainer who screamed at his wife on the phone, smoked in the sleeper berth, was a complete pig. The first day I wiped down the cabins, brown tar on the blue shop rags. I disinfected everything and the trainer only threw away his garbage. I went solo for two months and was given VERY POOR MILEAGE. Averaging 300 dollars a week. I could make that at Burger King. I was assigned to a team member I went to C-1 school with and the "boy" was a PIG. I called him first and told him I would stop for showers at least every other day (which was an abomination to him, he used AXE spray to cover his BO and ### smell) adn that no smoking in the Sleeper berth and cleaning the truck every other day was a MUST. Spent four weeks with this slob and am home right now waiting for another partner. I will ABSOLUTELY refuse another slob/pig. So, don't pick PAM. They suck. Some of the Driver mangers are really great. Most SUCK. Your team driver manager is an uncaring ###, out for his own promotion. How about this? There are two girls in Payroll (who are really nice) but there are 1500 drivers. Thats 750 drivers a piece....thats how greedy PAM is. I have pictures of the trucks they use. Matter of factly, they are giving their tenured truckers new fleet models which I agree with, but just two weeks ago I was in the Irving yard and a newbie was explaining to the safety director why he CRUNCHED the fiberglass running boards and dented the fuel tank in 10inches and there was YELLOW PAINT all over that side of the truck on a 2011 Freightliner. I have a great safety record, had log problems and am on "Probation" which they don't tell you about for violations I was informed of three months later on. They just plain SUCK all the way around. The only redeeming quality is that they have kick ### health insurance. That is worth the price to drive for them for one year, meet your obligation and get the HELL OUT!!!!

So are you at home because you got off the truck you where on? I don't see why they can't run you solo till they can find one that washes their backside.

If the guys they are putting you with are the problem why are you the one sitting at home?

I agree that PAM sucks. Yes you can go 6 months or more making the same log mistake and they will not tell you until an audit. More frustrating is if DOT does an audit and has them change something they have been doing wrong company wide, they don't tell the drivers! Again they just wait for your next audit. I don't know who told you there were only 2 payroll people, but when I left in June, there were 5. Things have gone downhill there since 2009. The biggest problem seems to be most people in operations don't care. Good luck.

I was talked out of going into the office...by the terminal manager. Judging by how the office is run and the people's attitudes in the office, I'd have to say I agree with him.

They use the movers guide for mileage. They say it is within 4% on average. My 4 year average was 11.3 %. Dedicated runs I was on were at 9%. Non dedicated common runs to long time customers usually between 17-22%.
If they change your load assignment mid trip (ie load already picked up by another driver so they send you somewhere else) you will not be paid the extra miles unless you fight for it.
You can get paid for the extras you do, but you must demand it. They will not pay the extras just because you did the work.
