1. I hear its a good school, but I got my CDL prior to coming to Roehl.
2. I'm on a Hometime Plus fleet, so I slip seat between two trucks. My 14/7 team has two trucks and three drivers. I live right off I94 and only about an hour from the terminal which is also right off the 94.
3. I won't really comment on marketing materials since it wasn't the reason I went with Roehl. I have a couple of friends who have worked at Roehl and they highly recommended the carrier. I spend a lot of time in the Southeast. I average 2800-3100 miles a week. They tend to run the Hometime Plus Fleet drivers pretty hard. 2/3rd of the time my first load each launch goes to the Detroit area before I head south.

If I had to choose if you know you are going to drive for roehl definitely go thru their school that way you are trained "the roehl way" it would make life a lot easier and our school is cheaper than most of the good 3rd party school.

You folks are FREAKING AWESOME!! Thanks SO much for the reasoned explanations. It sure beats the whining and sniveling I read from other failed employees. Roehl just jumped up a notch or two.
The recruiter I talked to said I'm "on their OTR list" since I don't care so much about hometime or regional driving, even though I'm not available yet. I guess they like the sound of a 27+ year employment history. Works for me!Cooper09 Thanks this. -
So I figure why pay $4,995 for a Michigan CDL school when I can get good training. Doesn't make good financial sense. Learn the Roehl way from the start.

Of all the varied opinions about roehl either good or bad I have yet to see anything bad said about their school. It is really top notch we have excellent trainers in mfld.

When I stayed at the hotel for orientation, the only thing I heard negative from a student was that she wished roehl would buy them breakfast, lunch and dinner as well like they do the potential new hires. That was the only thing negative that I have ever heard about the roehl school.

Well, sure. And while they're at it, could they pay my kids college tuition and my health benefits and double my 401K contributions? Good grief.
So far, the only "bad" thing I can find about Roehl is they don't seem to go to Oklahoma City. I have grandkids there, so that's important to me. -
Haha, they will get you to OK City, you just have to wait for the worse blizzard in 25 years to hit before you arrive

There are a couple of threads, one by me and the other by hindsy detailing at least a year of our experience while there, in the DAC portion of the forum. They were pretty good to me with a few exceptions that are not worth quibbling about. If they would have increased their pay scale up to my current company I would have likely just stayed with them. Best of luck.
