Lol.
I am Roehl bound on Oct 3rd after school. Provided everything goes right. Honestly, I've read more good then bad about Roehl. So I am giving it a shot.

Just always stay positive no matter how dim the situation may seem. That and hard work and dedication does not go unnoticed here. It's just really hard to stand out because fm's are too busy dealing with the bad apples. Good luck welcome to team roehl and if you have any questions feel free to ask, keep in mind I'm an i/c so I don't know a lot of the specific things about the company side. Pay, hometime, truck assignments etc....

I enjoyed reading it, thanks for the post.
Festus71 Thanks this. -
Thank you sir. Roehl has been in my mind well before even starting school so I'm just glad I got on with the company I think highly off. Though, I'm not going to go in with the expectations that everything will be handed to me because its not. I got to work and earn everything I get. I'm on this earth to work and give 150% of my effort and that is what I am going to do.

Yes, an old thread. I realized it once I read every since thread. Still, it was nice to find it because it validated that I wasn't the only one with a bad experience at Roehl. -
This was the only sentence I had an issue with in your response. With the way it is written, one clearly see's that you only believe drivers are bad apples. Your a company homer, I get it from reading several of your post. You like Roehl and think Roehl is great.
I've had several jobs where I've never had issues while other people did have issues with the working conditions, bosses, etc... I would have sworn those jobs were great at the time as well.
Every body has his/her own experience. What is a good company for some will not always be a good company for other people. That is a fact.
I know the day I quit, 3 others had quit in the last 2 hours before me.
I know of the 7 who made it through orientation with me, only 2 remain with the company.
As I said, everyone has his/her own experience. Just because you love Roehl, doesn't mean every body will. -
umm I'm an owner operator? So I don't know what you mean my company homer. Yes I do enjoy driving for roehl, I do realize that we have some messed up people in operations, I just don't dwell on negative things I try to reflect a positive image on my business no matter what. Roehl is not perfect, as a matter of fact in January I plan on going to landstar. The only reason I am leaving is because I want to make the money I make now and be home more. Those two things dont really go together here. And just because you did not fit in here dosnt mean that everyone else will not like it. And yes I do love this company because when I got out of the army I didn't have a pot to piss in and now my fiance and I want for absolutely nothing. If you haven't noticed you are one of very few people that have a legitimate problem with roehl.

Good luck to you... I've been with ROEHL for over 8 years now. Had some up and downs and even have threatened to quit several times, but it's all worked out in the end.
Went through the mill as a company driver, trainer, and moved into I/C several years ago. I won't say ROEHL is the best company anymore, but I will say it's one of the better ones for someone just starting out.
The most important thing to remember, is to keep from letting ego get in the way. Lot's of comments here about the DSR's, FM's or whatever you want to call them. There are alot of good ones and there are some bad ones. More and more, the bad ones are being weeded out. Also, I think most of the drivers who last at REOHL are the ones who just ignore the BS and drive the truck.
Also, stay away from the "b***h sessions" at the terminals since they are mostly made up stories anyway.... "There I was and... I called the US marshalls.... " Right.....
Enjoy...roehl929 and notezbngrn71 Thank this. -
I'm A Company Owner: I went through orientation with a guy who was coming back to work for Roehl again. He had been a solo driver and a company driver the previous two times he worked for Roehl. He told all of us what in time we needed to go owner/operator because that was the way to go if you wanted to make more money working for Roehl. The Roehl employees new this guy pretty well and appeared to be pretty well respected by those that spoke to him. So as a Company Owner, I'm not surprised your high on Roehl.
You admit that Roehl has some Bad Fleet Managers. Thanks for the admission. Your not quite the company homer that I thought you to be at first.
I did fit in at Roehl. I just chose to invoke the option that every driver who drives with them has which is to quit and find a better job. Apparently your doing the same as you say in January.
You should go through the thread again. Lots of people had issues with Roehl when they drove for them. Besides, not evey guy or gal who has drove for Roehl wants to waste his or her time posting here on this board about this company or any company for that matter.
As I said before, EVERY PERSON has his or her own experience when they work a certain job. I worked at Wal-mart back in my college days for three years. I loved working at the store that I worked at as well as the people I worked with. The pay at the time for me whwn I quit was $5.85 an hour. Yes I worked there when mini-wage was still $5.15 an hour. In college, that was fine but once I graduated why stay when I had a job offer making twice in one year what Wal-Mart had paid me in three years working for them. While there, I saw other people come and go complaining about this or that about Wal-Mart. For me, at the time, Wal-mart employment was great. For others, not so much.
Roehl wasn't a complete waste of my time. I did love certain aspects of the company. I just didn't apprieciate the little white lies from time to time or the line I got from my last fleet manager which was: "Your safety isn't as important to Roehl as keeping your truck's fuel mileage down." That comment was the last straw for me especially since Roehl preaches SAFTEY to all drivers. -
This is actually some good advice. I say good luck to you as well. Despite my experience, I don't feel I got the best out of Roehl and Roehl didn't get the best out of me. So better luck to you sir!!!
