    You have a point BUT.................
I'm willing to bet that guy does not have what it takes to pass Landstar's tough hiring process.

When I was at orientation I heard that they approve 5% or less of all the folks that apply.

LOL, its not that bad. They worked pretty hard to approve me, one of the companies I had driven for was out of business and without that they could not verify my previous 3 yrs experience. I'm surprised they didn't just say, tough buddy, come back later when you have more verifiable experience. But the gal really worked at and figured it out some how. As long as you meet the requirements on their website for experience and tickets or lack there of you'll be fine.

Do you think getting home MOST weekends would be out of the question to be successful over there?

All depends on where you live and the type of freight you want to haul. Obviously to make the most money you would be out a couple weeks. I have a friend that pulls a van and gets home most weekends. But that would never work where I live. Not enough out bound freight.

I talked to one LS driver that lives in Indy and pulls a flat. He CLAIMED he is home every night. I have no way to know if he is telling the truth or not.

I live in N.E. North Carolina, 45 minutes east of I-95 and want to stick with the Dry Van stuff.

Why would this be Landstar's problem, instead of the driver's? Why would they care who hauls what as long as the freight gets moved?

It's the driver's truck, so it's entirely his responsibilty for doing something that stupid if he gets caught.
