Greetings Indian River Transport drivers! I am considering this company and I would like to know how hard they run you. Unlike most drivers, I'm satisfied with 2,000 to 2,500 miles a week. Will their delivery deadlines allow this or do you have to hammer down to get there in time? Thanks!

I don't drive for IRT almost did though, based on what I saw down there in Winter Haven and have read here they are like any other company they have drivers who will run and some who won't..

Keep in mind with foodgrade tanks you do have product that will go bad if it sits to long its not like hauling tissue paper in a dry van where an appointment can be moved a few days later..

in an earlier post, i mean way earlier, someone said that IRT doesn't unload their trailers, and instead the shipper receiver does all the connecting of the hoses and what not.. was that a true statement,? and is it still like that? does the driver have the option to do it him/her self? i'm looking to get out of dry van next summer, just trying to find a general direction to go.

The shipper and receiver load and unload everything you just sit and wait.

Generally you are at the mercy of the shipper/receiver however there are some loads that require you cutting seals, opening domes, taking samples and hooking up hoses. 100% no touch freight isn't what it used to be.Remember when they say they pay you to drive, that's all they pay you for,so when you do all that sitting you won't get paid.

hmm... ok.. i mean everything else about the company seems nice, raises every year, and nice trucks and plenty of miles.. but i'm not use to just driving and driving alone, that's why i'm trying to get out of dry van.. thanks for the info.
