Here in Philly the Delaware River Port Authority is involved in so many areas that have nothing to do with upkeep of the bridges it's ridiculous. All kinds of neighborhood improvement projects they have no business in. The alleged corruption within the authority is enough to make your head spin. It's all a bunch of political patronge BS that we, joe tax/toll payer, fund. I've about had my fill of all of it. Time to look for greener pastures.
nuts&bolts123 Thanks this. -
Two of the Hudson crossings need upgrades, Goethals and Bayonne, Bayonne to make the port accessible to larger ships and Goethals needs to be rebuilt to handle the traffic.
Road work out there is continuing pretty much all the time unless the weather is limiting. -
Tell the shippers, brokers & those on the receiving end how much it cost to get the freight to them due to tolls. Most won't care, but a few will listen. Nothing will change if people do not know why the truck needs to charge more to deliver to them.

I agree and als statement is correct. most of the toll lanes are ezpass only with very few cash lanes so they already saved revenue on jobs they cut. and now they want to raise them again. ill give an example im 37 years old my dad worked for texaco in pennsauken nj. from the time i was 5 i could remeber going over that bridge. 32 years later it still looks exactly the same. that bridge should be looking like a brand new shinny pete. lol

Management Salaries are up. Bonuses as well.
New Turnpike buildings.
Roads? Why bother? -
The old joke is,,, if you lived in Jersey, you'd pay to leave too.

I don't hate the "rich" but really I've never seen so many jobs made for people that don't really DO anything. And of course these people are all college educated and have high expectations. Their offices must be "green" and have all the latest in terrariums and indoor skylights.
Really burns me because I just did a commercial move for a company that moved from a funky old Art-deco office attached to one of the original company factories, to a bland office park in a suburban nieghborhood. (since when do offices need to be in a desirable school district?) The factory was shuttered and you can guess where half the work went. (Taco senior?) The other half went to an existing plant in VA so at lease they're keeping SOME work local.
Really the most dissapointing thing, this was an old kitchen cabnet company, and the "old" board room/CEO'S office (aka "the corner office") was actually insanely PIMP! Everything was wood paneled, it had a secetary's office hidden behind a hidden door,,, and she had her own kitchenette (to make the boss a sammich and coffee) The board room was all oak paneling and had a massive table in the middle of it.
You just don't see that kinda stuff anymore. The new offices were anticeptic, new age-y, cubicle pens with cramped offices lining the edges of the space (but hey you get windows!)
Hmm, I seem to have wandered off topic,,,,
