Cracked frame under front spring hanger kwt800

Im not sure about in the USA but here in OZ you cant legally weld a plate over it , you have install a insert (second section of chassis rail). And as for the post heating. According to the welding criteria for chassis rail repair it must be post heated and preheated. but this also is OZ specifications. not sure about USA specs.

 

Leave them connected and you could loose an alternator.

 

a bolted piece. it does have to be pre heated and it does have to be stress relieved, i was just saying without the proper equipment to do the post heat that he`s s.o.l. that`s where the bolted plate comes into play.

 

actually if you want to feel better about it, bolt on a piece of channel iron over it.

 

My 900L had three frame rails replaced under warranty for cracking at front spring hanger. After it was out of warranty they made a C-channel bolted it inside the frame rail welded the crack on both sides and I haven't had another problem. Like K-D said it will work. I also haul somewhat heavy, around 97,000 to 105,000.

what did you end up doing to fix your frame mine has done the same thing is it a costly repair 2000 w9 8 bag is what i got
