For once IM not the one stuck in SPRINGMO lol How bout that lol Watch when you drive that Cascadia, they turn a lot quicker than the Petes do. They are a lot better to learn on than the Petes (sorry Pete, still love ya though). You can see a lot better out of the Cascadia with that massive windshield.

Two words... fuel economy. The fuel bill is the low hanging fruit in the variable cost side of your profit/loss sheet. Everything else is peanuts in comparison.

You can nail some 9's in the newer trucks - I was posting 9.6 last night... down to 9.1 since I picked up a 27-series trailer. The old Cummins ISX and Detroit series-60 engines would be hard pressed to do it. Low rolling resistance tires are a must - it's a lot harder with one of the old trailers than a new one with wide singles.

There are a lot of small things that all add up to help get you there, but the biggest contributor to it is driver technique, not technology. Part of that is slowing down, although I think 50 mph on an interstate is just too slow, and its below the minimum speed limit in some places.
