Teams : double the miles, half the pay, LOL!
All comes out the same in the long run. CR England teamed a student with a trainer for 2 months, and then put two advanced students together as a team for another 2 months. The time as team, as you say, IS very good for training purposes. Even with the co-student, you learn what NOT to do, LOL! Mine was the lousiest backer and laziest driver I've ever met and though he wouldn't help unload, he refused to pay me his share of the unload fee.
Team was too disorienting to me, going to sleep in one state, waking in another; partner complaining that I hadn't covered enough miles during my shift even though he had no idea what the conditions were as he slept; lack of downtime - the company knows you are a team and doesn't want to let you take a breather (laundry, dinner, sleep late). I'd never return to team unless it was with a lady I was involved with personally to start with.
    Good luck and have fun!

Thats correct. Double the miles half the pay. But on this very forum are comments from drivers about how the longer runs are given to teams now, sticking the solo guys to 400-600 mile runs. And truthfully even if it comes out the same pay either way I still prefer having a co-driver I think at first. I simply dont think 28 days out makes me a real driver yet. I have waaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much to learn still lol. By th same token I dont think drivers should be able to become trainers after 6 months. But the pay scale going from .33 to .49 makes a lot of people do it regardless of how well they know they shouldnt be ready yet.

The reality of it is I am most likely going to be trained by another new driver. Then given another new driver as a co-driver. I think that applies to most companies now. But still it's all a matter of choice.

Yea I am going the 8 month contract.

To be honest from what I se on these boards about Central they have a better program. Higher starting pay, less pay complaints from drivers and stuff like that. CRST isnt a favorite among a lot of people. there are others that really like them. That would be a tough choice. Shorter contract or higher starting pay? If I were in the position to have the option I would probably go with Central
