Sorry for your troubles. An easy diet for diabetics is DON'T eat anything WHITE. Sugar, bread, pasta, or anything that list these in the top 2/3 of their ingredients. Exercise, Exercise, Exercise. Does not make any difference what kind. I try to park at the end of the lot so I will have to walk farther, then I walk fast so I don't pee in my pants.
I will make three of four trips around the truck and trailer every time I stop. In this heat I will break a sweat before getting back in the truck. Losing weight will improve the breathing too. Something you might want to research is cinnamon capsules.
It is rumored that it helps the body to process sugar better. What ever you do DO NOT give up until all avenues have been exhausted. Good Look and my prayers are with you.

Thanks papanuge. :) I have more health problems that limits what I can do. I have circulatory disorders where my legs are going downhill on me. They have gotten twice as bad since I started this thread. I push myself as hard as I can. I lost a bunch of weight but then gained some back. The doctor said it was because of muscle growth. I'm 5'10" and 250. I'm overweight but not obese.

I had an angioplasty with 99% blockage the end of March. Most of my problems are hereditary from a poor pancreas.

My last A1C was 7.7, but that was before I started insulin. It was 10.3? The month prior. I started going to the VA last month and suprisingly I'm getting much better medical care. They are making my last doctor look like a quack.
I go back Monday for lab work and ortho. I'll know more then. They are doing many new tests.

I'm settling in where I'm content. I don't think I can get back to normal. I been remodeling the house 5-10 minutes at a time. I have a garden and still mow the yard, with a riding mower, lol. I get more work out than I did in a truck.

    Thanks for the update Condo.
    Your problems are my problems.

Started in Jan. 2000. Had a heart attack at the receivers. My sugar was 671. Did 45% damage to my heart.
Finally forced out of the truck on '06. My legs have been going for 3 years now and I have congestive heart failure and COPD.

I use C-PAP with supplemental oxygen.

Now days I spend allot of time on the porch.......Can't run with the big dogs.....

And through all of that, Life is better off the road. I wish I had done things differently....Maybe could have been a Chef instead of a trucker.

We sound alot alike. Everyone wanted me to pursue a restaurant and I never did.

671! Whew! That's high. My highest reading was 307. I'm doing better now that I'm on insulin. The legs are getting worse though. I think I have blockages like my brother did. I'm down to a shuffle. The VA has me scheduled with all kinds of tests the next 3 months. My brother got 3 stents in his legs and he got his circulation back. Now he gets around good. Hopefully they can fix me. Knowing the VA, they'll probably want to amputate, lol.
I hope you feel better. :)

    Hey Injun,

If you're out there and get this in the next day or so, I was wondering what your experience at Lincare was like. I got a call from them and have an interview set up for today. Any insight? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
