Hi John, looks like you have been doing alot of looking and researching, what happened to Schnider? Looking at their website I'll touch on some things I noticed. The pay seems average as far as % goes but you would have to ask to see some of their billing to actually see what 23.5% is, or talk to some of their drivers. The training pay seems very low. The $600 weekly guarantee is ok but thats only for three weeks, what about after that. The vacation dont seems all that great but I think that falls in the standard catagory. You might want to ask about their MPG Improvement bonus, improvement over what? Most companies pay for their drivers physicals at the end of their two years. I just mentioned the things that I saw as a negative but did also see some + stuff in there....no slip seating, rider policy, 100% paid idle-aire, 401k with match. Your best bet might be to track one of them guys down at the truck stop or their terminal and see what they have to say. Good luck

PGT has been on my radar for a couple of weeks but I can't find anything out about them except from their web site. I have searched other boards and have found nothing. They must be a smaller company which isn't a bad thing.

Hello:
Schneider National has too much good and bad but mostly bad and personally I just don't want to get lost in the shuffle. Besides I wanted long haul bulk, they gave me the run around, and offered me regional bulk when in fact they send me adds with long haul bulk positions. I apply and I get regional! Then I decide on van. In my experience if you don't get what you want at first..and then you settle, then you will never be happy. I don't like settling but sometimes life is not always fair. So as of now I am pre-approved to work for Central Refrigerated that has a school in Medina, NY. All is good and all I have to do is attend school on September 01, 2007. I am also looking around because as a new person to trucking, I don't want to make mistakes. So I am checking out PGT, CFI, and Interstate. I am just looking around and making a conscious decision.
Right now all I want to do is get my first year in. If I am fortunate enough to do that then I will know if I will stay or I will find the company of my choice. I have to worry about tickets, accidents et. I just want to do things right. Everybody should frequent the trucker's forum because I have found no other website with so many good people willing to help you out and provide you with the necessary information to help you make that life-changing decision. I am glad I found this site for all of the reasons I mentioned and more. Good luck with your searches and be safe.
