Talked to recruiter earlier today...looks like Georgia for me on Sept 19th. Thanks tons for all the great post here!! One question...don't care if it is good or not (use a pound of sugar per cup anyhow)...but do they supply coffee at the schools in Georgia and Utah??

Alright folks for anyone who will be coming to Conley GA this is what you have to look forward to.

Upon arriving to Greyhound in Atlanta you will call the shuttle service for a ride, go ahead and get comfortable becuase that shuttle takes 30-45 minutes to get to you. When it does arrive get comfortable again becuase the ride from Greyhound to the terminal is 20-30 minutes longer.

Once we got to the terminal we were shuttled to the motel (another 30 minute ride) where you will be paired up in a room with another driver. Set your alarm for 4:00 am becuase that shuttle service to the terminal will leave at 5:00 am. Once at the terminal you will start the paperwork process at 6:00 am and depending on class size this will be a long process. Ours took from 6:00 am to 1:00 pm when we broke for lunch. This process will include --- DOT Physical, Security Interview, Work Well and Drug Screening.

If you clear this process (4 people did not) you will be sent to a class room with a trainer who is easy to learn from, just listen to her and DO NOT BE LATE !!!!!!. Once class starts you will focus on paper logs, this is to ensure that you know what you are doing IF the e-logs malfunction.

Thats everyday travel time in Atlanta,so welcome to the "A" lol. Good to know you made it safe and everything is going well for you so far! Do you know why the 4 people did not make it? and what are they asking on the security interview?

i know this has been covered already but i can not find the info about it, but not including money for food, how much money should you bring along for all the other important stuff..testing, permits..,...?

id say around 200 would be enough to cover the permits and testing. could be wrong and could be less or more. but dont see it being more then 200. think its like 100 or so.

Security questions would be basically did you break any laws go to jail blah blah blah i guess.

I have my cdl and live in Iowa, so your saying they would ship me out too ut in the back of there trl as freight, be cheaper then a greyhound, or would i go too Ga, also since i;m here, if they do take me and i pass and everything and year latter i' m still there, do they have detail shop's in there yard. thank's

since your on the west i would think they would send you to Cali then Utah or straight to Utah.

Probably go straight to UT since you have your CDL already. Do the security interview and medical (yes you will have to do another one) then a road test and out with a trainer if all is good. I'm in Iowa right now with a load of frozen food you can ride with me but bring a warm coat.

did they put you in a hotel/motel or do they have a bunk house?

dont think its because hes wanting to keep you around for company. It might be his way of making sure your prepared. because honestly think about it. Hes a trainer. When hes done with you hes going to get another person so wanting company isnt the reason. Maybe he does like you and you know your stuff and he wants to enjoy your company around because you do stuff right and everything instead of just getting an idiot behind the wheel and having a hard time training someone who thinks they know everything after 2 hours of being behind the wheel for the first time.

I agree I was just playing around. I did learn a lot and am glad for the extra time.

I upgraded today, and you could tell a differance between students who were out with for the full 5 weeks and those who got out in the 21 day minimum. So It is good to spend the time out there with your trainer.

My trainer offered me a job as his 2nd seat, but could not offer insurance which is important to me and my family, so I will be going company, and Solo because I can not sleep well with the truck moving.

Like Big Rigg said road test was easer than the cdl test, and the backing was just put it in that hole, you could set up however you wanted and the area for the backing test you can easly pull up and do a straight back in. They don't care how you do it as long as you don't hit anything, and you get out 3 or more times. The computer test are non-failable if you click on the wrong answer it says wrong choose again and you can not go on until you get the right one.

We will be doing re-orentation in the morning and they say we will get our truck and DM in the afternoon. I hope it all goes well.
