There is now a new construction zone on U.S. 93 in Boulder City, south of Las Vegas.
Beginning Aug. 26, 2011- mid November 2011, trucks over 26,000 lbs GVW will be prohibited from southbound U.S. 93 from approx. Nevada milepost 2.5 to 7. This is between the Hacienda Hotel/Casino near Lake Mead and Industrial Way in Boulder City.
The restriction is on only southbound trucks from 8 am- 5 pm, Mon- Sat.
There is no restriction on northbound trucks. The construction zone speed limit is 35 mph.
Nevada Highway Patrol and Boulder City Police are strictly enforcing this zone.
The construction project is to add an additional lane (which is badly needed) on the southbound side.
WOW, there is very strict enforcement of this construction zone on U.S. 93 in Boulder City by BCPD and NHP units from 8-5 Mon-Sat. Apparently people are missing the detour signs directing trucks down U.S. 95; they are writing a lot of tickets.
I have seen up to four police units working this area. The often have a checkpoint set up near Ville Dr. and U.S. 93.
Again this is only a detour for southbound, northbound trucks are proceeding normally, although the traffic is fairly heavy and slow.
