Who train's the trainer ? Or do they just train you through there experiences behind the wheel. And Im refering behind the wheel training. And /or do they go a course before they are considered a trainer ? Do they(trainer's) have to have so many year's of experience before hand and how many ?. I bring this up cause I read many thread's on here that "my trainer said this and said that" and sometimes in my opinion, it's WRONG. Am I the only one to see this ?

Most of the big companies require 6months to 1tr of exp, no special training for them

i agree 6months to a year does not make you a trainer.

heres an example i called one of the bottom feeders told them how much experience i had "but" havent driven in the last year. (that was a lie) they said to me i would have to go through orientation for two weeks? like an unlicensed driver? then would have to go out with a trainer for 3 weeks?

9 years experience didnt drive for a year so know my experience dont count? but since a so called trainer has 6-12mos recent experience he can train me! lmao!
who should train who. what a joke this world has become.

BFI's rarely keep driver's more than 24 months, so they dont have a choice.

Yet somehow the Insurance allows a n00b with 6 months (not always 6 months solo, some places 6 months employment) to "Train" a pre-natal n00b in the art of smacking guard rails, docks , rocks, ducks, geese, and every #### thing else, yet want's a driver with 2 years or more experience that has been off the road for more than 60 days to basically go back through school.

Sad state of affairs aint it? If logic and common sense ever met trucking it would be one helluva train wreck!

Yeah....was a trainer with werner, we had a short class to go through. I had 3 years under my belt, but some only had 6 months. 23 years old and training? That makes no sense.....

Anyways...being a trainer is being a company slave...I gave that up. Don't want it....

nope completely serious, like KE5 said werner only requires 6 months exp!:biggrin_25524:

Thats why we have so many sheety drivers out here, Sheety schools, then they go out with a sheety "trainer".....

I'd rather see trucking be like the old days where it was hard to become a driver because you had to find someone to actully TRAIN you and then find someone to hire you.

Luckliy for me I learned from my dad and a bunch of old hands, THEN went to truck driving school and got almost 3 yrs local exp before going OTR.

In the company I work for new drivers train in company garage towing and parking trailers. and it is good for us, who work on trucks, becouse when there is no training drivers I have to walk a lot, look for trucktors and trailers and do too many backing nad docking operations.... and I'm really tired when there is no one who can drive truck for me!

It's all about the benjamins when a company requires an experienced driver that's been off the road for a year to spend 3 weeks with a trainer. A few pennies on the mile * a few thousand miles * a few hundred people a year starts to add up to big savings for a BFI.
