    Hey yall.

I've been driving for three years now and am completely confident in my driving ability. I'm not ####y, but totally confident. I've hauled oversized loads, double/triple trailers, drove a class b tank truck, and have a bunch of over the road experience as well.

I was talking to another driver the other day trying to figure out how I can make more money than I'm making now and he said I should look into hauling dangerous hazmat stuff since it's supposed to pay a lot.

I've hauled diesel, and urea before.

I'm wondering what it takes to get hired on at a company that pays real big bucks for the "hazard pay" element.

I'm ok with going over the road, but a local job to the Orlando, FL area would be even better.

Bottom line is I want to own my own truck some day and it's gonna be a long time before I do because I'm not going to buy it until I can get my own authority and buy my own truck, and trailer in cash, and have six months of insurance saved up in advance (I will never sign on to a motor carrier. Period).

I will haul for my own customers, I've got connections that can give me more customers than I could handle. I wouldn't be hauling regular loads, it would be speciailized work that i've got experience in the field of already. Much more profitable without the middle man, and the work pays a lot per load, a way better deal than per mile.

But until I get my own truck I want to do whatever I need to do to speed up my savings. My expenses are extremely low. I'm single until I meet the right woman, and I live well below my means. I'm able to save a lot of money right now (two thousand or more dollars every month) but I'd like to save even more than that so I can own my own truck sooner rather than later.

The driver I was talking to earlier said that today's form of dynamite doesn't explode without detonators so it wouldn't be anything to worry about hauling. If that's the case than I'm all for hauling it to make big money.

And things like nitrogen, nitroglycerin, plutonium... they certainly must pay a lot.

I will definitely have to research plutonium before hauling it, but if it's secured in the trailer and the company provides training, and you wear a radiation suit or whatever than it wouldn't be a problem for me since i've got the driving down no problem.

Maybe there are other jobs that pay more than hauling plutonium would pay and aren't as risky. Bottom line is i'm looking to make as much money as i can make and i'm not afraid to haul dangerous stuff if that's what i need to do to make the big money.

Does anyone know what companies have jobs that can make me big money like this? Especially if they are in the Orlando area?

    Advice would be much appreciated.

Tri-State and Arrow haul a lot of explosives for the government. I know of only one place that nitroglycerin is made and that's at Indian Head MD. I've seen all kinds of companies hauling the stuff so I don't think one company does it more than another. Forget Plutonium, you'll never touch or see the stuff. You just have to find the companies that have the government contracts and I gave you two of the best but there's more.

I drove for Tri-State Motor Transit years ago as a Teamster. It was a great job, but hazardous does not pay more than any other union job.

Is Arrow still around? I put their name in Google and received lots stuff concerning driver's fuel cards not working, bankruptcy, company operations being suspended. Most of the stuff appears to be from 2009.

these companies talk it up that theyll pay extra for hazmat etc but when it comes down to it,your pay wont be much higher in most cases..they can generate more revenue, they keep the extra profit, you deal w/ getting it there safely.. there are companies that pay well though, youll have to do alot of searching to find em.. airgas,ups,fedex...

bottom line is that the insurance covers the company, the trucking industry doesnt pass on earnings for extra risk to drivers in any meaningful way...only way youll see that money is when you own the trk and you negotiate the contract

Another thing is that some of the stuff your wanting to haul would require a government security clarence as well
