Have you considered a Local driving Job? If you want real hometime, thats the way to go. I'm usually back at the house by 4:30-5:00 mon. thru friday.

Yes, Im looking for a local job or something with great home time in the long run. I'm just figuring that I may have to do otr/regional for a while at first.

That's sort of what I thought when I read that as well.

I get as much home time as I need within reason. In the 4 years I have been with Superior Carriers I have averaged over 104 days off per year. I don't count it as a day off unless its 24 hours at the house either so there are other days when I get home before noon or leave out that afternoon. My longest trip has been 16 days. Most average 4-7 nights. I started this job out of truck driving school too.

My sggestion to you: If you see or know of any outfit that runs Daycabs regardless of what they haul ( LTL, beverage, food, furniture or private mfg.) stop in and leave an application, you may be the right guy at the right time.

    sw6g Thanks this.

I plan to never be home in the first year. I believe it is the nature of the beast. I can remember my dad as a kid being gone for 2-3 months straight at times.

Most local companies want recent OTR experience before they hire a driver. It can be anything from 6 months to 3 years depending on the company.

Roehl Transport has some of the best home time programs out there. I'm out 14 days and home 7. They also offer 7/7 and 7/3,7/4.

If you go national, they can get you home for 3 days every 11 if you want.
