I got on for ya - let me know your thoughts.....
Sitting on a 4 lane residental road waiting to turn left into the customers parking lot. There is no turn lane or median so I am in the fast lane waiting to turn with my signal on. Once Traffic clears - I start my left turn I cross the first oncoming lane with no issues - as I enter the send lane of my turn I hear a blast of a siren and I hit the brakes immediately (was only rolling about 5mph) and I see out of my left eye a police officer swerving around the front of my truck going the wrong way towards on coming traffic. We almost collided. It scared the crap out of me - so much so, I was shaking when I pulled the rest of the way into the customers lot.
I walk inside - get assigned a door and I walk back to my truck. As I walk up to my truck there are 2 police cars there. One was the one that passed me on the left in coming traffic. He asks me for my license and say's "you almost killed me"!
I told him - I had no idea you where there - you didnt hit your siren to alert me until we almost collided. I had my turn signal on - if you approached me from the rear you had to see that, and that I couldnt see you. If you had your siren on as you approached me - I would not have moved and allowed you to clear. The slow lane to my right was clear so I have no idea why he tried to pass me on the left in on-coming traffic.
Well pleading my case did no good - he wrote me a ticket for "failure to yield to emergency equip".
No inspection was given so )per safety) shouldnt effect Millis's CSA but man I am PISSED about this. To fight it will cost me more than double the ticket cost. I pride myself on a clean record and havent had a ticket since I was 20 years old.

If you feel you were right, fight it. Request the video. Most police cars have them and when the lights come on it starts recording. Since he wrote a ticket he is supposed to keep the video. Most judges will vacate a ticket if it's not a slam dunk or if your a complete idiot when your before him. Always fight when your right. It is worth it. I would go talk to the police chief or deputy chief and explain it to them. They will have your MVR already attached to the station copy of the citation. Most departments have it in policy that if your emergency lights are on yoru siren has to be on. It's the siren that alerts people not the lights. Fight it if your right.

Baritone dont know where you got your ticket but i would fight that one for sure. It would be worth the money to get it off your record.

I'm interested in the Millis CDL school. Sounds like a good program and a decent company. Think I read somewhere that they had started a Texas regional operation. Wanted to find out if that was the case and any info on how it worked. Thanks!
