I think I made a mistake/ ag truck companies

    I dropped out of truck school and went and got my license on my own, now I have my class a but im not a " recent truck school graduate" and it looks like no one is going to hire me this way.

    I heard that the trucks running produce seasonal will hire any one? Ive contacted the two I could find info on and they already had all there positions filled..... any one know the names of these agricultural truck companies running in nor cal?

    any help is appreciated.

    I see alot of them termater trucks in Turlock. Just a reminder.......There's fast drivers and there are good drivers,but there are very few fast good drivers. You'll have more of an understanding in 20-30 years of windsheild time. Good luck.

    We see about half a dozen posts like yours every month. Recently we had a driver with 10 years local Class B experience that got his Class A on his own. The last I heard he had been looking for about three months and was planning on going to school.

    If you want to move to TX or ND you might get an oilfield driving job hauling water.

    Yea, I had been looking at these adds while going to school, you know the ones that say no experience needed. I must have had tunnel vision not seeing the recent grad part........ so Im sitting at school waiting three hours for my time in a truck thinking " I can go rent one, get more practice time in 2 hours then I would in a week, and then land a job." I make a lot of bad decisions like this.

    I feel like such a idiot, I just wanna get on and make some money, I spent over six weeks in school!!!!!!!! I was supposed to grad in mid October though so If I go to one of these 160hr schools Ill still get done before I WOULD have.

    It sounds like you have the drive and ambition to do this. It is a long hard road you are choosing but if it is what you really want to do then stay at it and you will get your chance. Do the best you can and learn from your mistakes. Will see you out on the boulevard.

    Tomato haulers hire anyone with a CDL...real or not. Where at in norcal? Almond harvest has begun....lots of doubles running around hauling almonds to hullers.

    Also look to construction and aggregate companies. Then there are always the trash companies. None of these are going to be OTR, but then neither is produce field work.

    Get a bit of experience and while you are getting it, think about what you really want to do with your life. If trucking IS what you finally decide on, then go from there.

    Construction is increasing by the day in norcal also...in the agg trucking business myself. Check around for bottom dumps....they are running everywhere on grading & paving jobs...I'm sure they will hire anyone with a decent record. Quick training in bottom dumps too...once you prove you can drive, you're following and getting twice the work done.
