Thanks guys for taking the time to answer my questions. Just trying to do my digging before jumping head first if this is indeed something I'd like to do. Here a few more questions I thought of. Hope you don't mind.

-Can you take on a team driver/student if you lease?
-Does Prime lease Internationals or just KWs & Freightliners?
-Final question (for now), does Prime run out west a lot?

    Thanks again!

Well, with his trainer, my husband is running from one coast to the other willy nilly. Not sure about the solo drivers, they will have to chime in. At this point, JCW and his trainer are basically running team hours.

Sure. You can do that on the company side as well. Do you really think at less than one year experience you know enough to do a decent job training someone?

Full size condo Freightliners and Pete's - they got a couple of KWs... probably just to help out with the truck crunch going on right now. Freightliners, Petes (heard a rumor they're moving away from 386's) and Internationals in the lightweight variety.

Sure... mostly team freight, although there are solo runs out to the northwest.

Thanks. Wasn't saying I wanted to train, just asking. I wouldn't mind teaming but I don't think training is for me. I started at England at they tried to force being a trainer on us but I couldn't train somebody else to do something I didn't know myself. I have learned more since joining the company I am with now & running solo than I ever learned at England. Thanks again for the info!

Unless you ask to go home up there, maybe once or twice a year as a solo...

You would be sorely mistaken to think that you will get regular loads that go by the house where you can grab a few hours at home without taking home time.

I've been to Auburn twice and Portland once in the last year without actually requesting home time in the last year.

OTR company drivers (non regionals) probably run 95% of their loads East of the Rockies.

I'll second that, you'll rarely go west of the rockies, at least for now. Something happened, but I'm not sure what. Last year I went to CA several times, then usually up to Washington and back across. Not once though this year. No solos in CA seems to be the rule for now. I've been to Denver areas, and Cheyenne several times, but nothing west of there.

Anyone care to guess what the overall average miles per week for reefer drivers is? I'll chime in with the answer in a few days...

How about the western regional guys out of Salt Lake... CHDSLC? I thought they did quite a bit out that way...
