Hi everyone!
I'll introduce myself as MR. T. I'm here doing research into becoming a Proud Commercial Truck Driver @43y/o.....
I've been a Union Carpenter here in Seattle, Wa for the past 14years. There is no work available and I have been trying to figure out what I want to do with the last 20 working years of my life? It finally came to me that I want to drive truck!
I'm really exited and hope to do well. Many years ago I tried to work for King County Metro, but at that time had too many tickets. 15 years later, my attitude is different and much more courteous and responsible to others safety. My driving record is good now, and never been in any trouble to speak of; clean background with only one misdemeanor 15 years ago. And a DUI 15 years ago and that DUI does not even appear on my background. Go figure that one? Anyway, it doesn't seem to bother Swift too much as I have started the online training program. Oh ya, does anyone know if I can start and stop that online program? Can I go back before answering questions?
I first planning for C.R. England after speaking with a recruiter, but after reading on this site, I have changed my mind. Although the offer seemed good, I chose to check out Swift Transportation. The recruiter, Deanna, has been awesome. She has answered all my questions and was cheerful!
I was also planning on MTC in Missouri, starting Sept 25, 2011, but checked them out with the BBB and now I'm thinking Swift is positively best for me. The reason is that I don't have the money to go to school and don't mind signing a contract to work exclusively for them. Why not work for just Swift? If they are willing to help me get started then I'm willing to stick with them and not jump around. Loyalty means everything to me. I'm not looking to get rich anyway, I just want to drive truck! The money will take care of it's self.
Thank you all for your advise?
