When I lived down in FL, I use to go deep sea fishing on the party boats.

We were headed out one day and a deckhand ties two sardines on opposite ends of a 4' piece of fishing line. The seagulls were following the boat. He said watch this... he tossed the line up and a pelican grabs one sardine and flies away with the other sardine dangling behind him. Then about 200 gulls chased the pelican trying to get the other sardine flopping behind him. Funniest thing you ever seen.

To Wesker, there is nothing wrong with feeding the birds. I do it all the time, especially in winter. Many birds hang out at truck stops and some smart birds go around and eat the bugs off the truck grills.

The picture below I took from my drivers seat while feeding them bread at Dole Banana in Gulfport, MS. The camera makes them look farther away. They were coming right up to the window.

Bread, contrary to popular belief, isn't the best for ducks, they like corn!...Unsalted popcorn is also loved by them!...They love tomatoes and lettuce as well!....

    I love duckies!

most every Cabela's store in the country has truck parking, most of the stores have a semi-private flock of ducks, geese, birds that hang out. If you ever stop at the main store in Sidney or Sapp Bros. in Sidney you've seen them. There is a flock of about 20 to 30 ducks that hang out in Sapp Bros./McDonalds lot.

There's a rest area in MN just north of Faribault that has squirrels, chipmunks and lots of birds. They have feeders out back, and an observation area inside the rest area to watch them. We used to take loads of food grade corn up to Minneapolis, and I'd make the guy testing the corn bag up some of the screenings for me each time we'd go. I'd run around back, put the corn on the ground under the bird feeder and run back inside and watch the mayhem ensue. Those chipmunks have a pecking order, just like chickens. It's really funny to watch them. :biggrin_25523:
