I believe there is a third party that you can use that Malone hooks you up with. At least that is what I think I understood from my friend.

On the website for the load board, if you check "Read the News", I think they offer something like that. I never looked at the details of it, and I can't now, because I'm already out of their system. I don't remember what they charge to do your IFTA for you.. they told us in orientation, but since I was driving someone else's truck, it wasn't really one of those things I committed to memory, though my employer used their base plates and IFTA. I'll give him a call later today and ask.

If you need a trailer but don't own one then you will need to rent one of their's. I believe they now charge $185/week. Unless you can purchase your own securement equipment then they will finance it for you with 10% down (about $250). I believe they deduct $75/week until it is paid. You should expect to pay about $2,500 to purchase tarps, binders, chains, etc., through them. I also don't think that they start those deductions for 2-3 weeks to give you an opportunity to generate some revenue. I think that they still require an escrow. I believe that they deduct $75/week from your settlements until your escrow is met. If you get your base plates and permits, then they will also deduct that weekly. Again, I believe that it is about $75/week. Your recruiter should be able to tell you exactly how much your deductions will run. Sometimes they have used securement equipment that someone leaves or fails to pay for and you can buy for less than new. If you have the cash you might be able to find your binders, chains, etc., elsewhere, but they make it very easy to make weekly payments. You need to be cautious about having too many deductions. It can make you feel that you are not making as much money as you really are making. When I leased on to them a number of years ago, my recruiter was very straight forward. Everything he told me was right on the money. I don't know who you deal with, but I would expect that they are being straight with you. By the way, the amounts of deductions that I noted is from memory, but I think they should still be about right.

Do you have to keep up with your miles in each state and fuel bought so the accounting service can fill your fuel/highway taxes?

CRST Malone and most carriers do those calculations for you. You will be required to keep track of your miles by state and turn them into your carrier. They will then figure your fuel taxes for you and deduct any taxes owed and pay those to the state at then end of the quarter. If you run your own authority then you will need to keep track of those miles and file quarterly tax returns. Your tax service should be able to work with your settlement sheets and you should keep a copy of all fuel receipts and any expenses while on the road.

I posted some settlement sheets on the crst malone thread.

Remember, a leased truck differs from a truck leased!

    I just put money back.

You realize we own a business and take our chances, right?

It would be better if we all had single-payer healthcare. Then we could purchase real insurance, across state lines. Republicans won't allow it, so we just save more money, instead.

We don't suffer because of any of CRST-Malone's policies.

    Your assumption is incorrect.
