Huck rivets/bolts?

Yes they are very easy to install. The only hard part is paying for the gun. Its very expensive.

 

I used carriage bolts to replace mine when I took a fairing off. Can't tell the difference except fot the letters stamped on the heads of the carriage bolts.

 

Huck bolt guns are hydraulically actuated and rather large. I think these guns run about $10,000 to $15,000, so if you are doing just one job I would stick with regular bolts.

Not all of them are that big. There are hand held pneumatic powered guns for doing repair work on trucks and aircraft. I bought one new about 10 years ago and I think I paid almost $2,000. With that said I do agree they are too expensive for just one small job.

 

What you're seeing for that price is pneumatic rivet guns not huck guns. They are not the same thing.

 

Yes I wasn't thinking used in my last post, but before purchasing you need to find out what huck bolts it will pull. We have a couple of guns that are obsolete because they won't pull the newer style mega grip style huck bolts that Pete uses now. If it has the right size tip and you can find huck bolts that are compatible with it then you would be good to go. Just be careful because not all guns and huck fasteners work together.

 

I installed a new grill into my Pete, and found 1/4" stainless carriage bolts online. The heads look identical to the huck bolts that were in there before, no lettering or anything. Use some lockwashers and ny-lok nuts, and I'd think it's as good as a huck,
