Ok pete387...we got the speach about the 07 FL's with the CAT engine...LOL You were right! They say payment is 455 or something, and last payment, in two years, its yours! Highwayman...I really wish you the best man,,make sure you get that Ins they offer for the drive train. And live on the road for two years,,you should be alright than.

What other trucks are available to lease besides the '07 Freightliners? Does USX charge a variable mileage like CR England? Also, does USX offer a student training program to it's lease drivers? Sorry for so many questions at once.

How much do you make a week when it is all said and done? That's the real question? What do they pay? Like 90 cpm? That doesn't cut it in my book. I would look into an owner operator company myself. Landstar seems pretty good. I had 2 friends that went over there and they love it. I'd be there too if I had the recent experience. Other than that, it seems like a gamble to me. Seems like a lot of those lease deals keep you on the road forever to pay for all the extra bills.

We were told that the lease ops are getting 900 to 1000 a week, after everything is paid for.

That's it. Although you have to deal with more headaches of someone else, teams make that and don't have to worry if they can pay for the truck note this week.

Not much of a gamble, besides some people want to try to better themselves by being an o/o sure leasing isn't perfect but you can walk away, if I tie myself to a truck note and go to landstar sure I'll make money but say I don't want to drive anymore still have to pay for that truck .. There are leases to run from but this one is a hell of alot better than alot of them... Life is a gamble

be very careful with doing a lease with them. I did 2 leases on petes and did very well. then I went to a 07 that lasted 4mths before i turned it in i was losing money. just figure out what your fix cost are for each day i think for the 07 your looking at around 95 dollars a day. then you have to figure out the variable ones. rember also to set aside about 20% for taxes also each qtr you will have fuel tax bill. i found the sweet spot to be a day run for about 500 miles. bottom line is you have to know what it will cost you to run the truck each day. sitting on a load for a day or two will make a run a neg one also watching were you fuel the as you know fueling up north is alot more costly. also plan on breaking down it will happen and when your trk is in the shop the bills continue. even thou you are not running that in itself would caution you not to use USX teminals. noting like sitting in a shop for 4 days out of a week. also when getting your ps done do not go to the terminals they will say it is cheaper but it is not they will charge you labour then nickel and dime you on filters and fluids. making it cost more than going to speedco or the ta. also save every reciept they are right offs.

Something else to consider. When u go lease, you lose everything, insurance, benefits, tuition reimbursement. Don't forget to put up about 20% of your ck to pay uncle sam. And UNCLE SAM don't play.
