When I go in to see my counselor and the student planner how should I handle that? As stated in my last post I get the feeling that they think that I was not doing my part? I fear that I am being blackballed because the trainer told them some stuff that is not true, but to prove otherwise would take an audit of logs and compare them to qual-comm messages. My mistake was sticking with this guy for as long as I did, even after knowing that he was not making the effort.

You're not the first and won't be the last student to have this issue. It's universal and happens at all training companies. Just go in and be humble. Don't point fingers. If asked tell them that maybe you should have pressed the point, but didn't want to step on the trainer's toes.

If your trainer threw you under the bus, and you don't do the same, it lends to your credibility. It's a tough situation, but just tell them you're willing to do whatever needs to be done to get the training completed. They'll appreciate your determination.

Keep in mind that the student planners can only do so much. They depend on the combination of trainer and student to keep things on track. Whatever you do, don't get argumentative, they won't deal well with that. If you're pissed, keep it to yourself and let it out later in the hotel. Stay as calm as you can (I can imagine how disappointed you are to have to go out again). Accept any trainer they offer and go for it ... it will be over soon.

I agree, take the high road, show professionalism and character. Beating a dead horse will not help you at this point and keeping your eye on the goal is key. Chalk it up to experience and cut the air lines of that trainer when you see him at a truck stop. :biggrin_2559: kidding..........ummm.

Rattlebunny and Dryver, thank you for your good advice. I accept your advice and I accept my situation, and am looking forward to a new trainer. Now, another question...should I talk with the new trainer (interview) him/her about my needs or what questions should I ask? Or do I just accept whomever they give me? And how long will this take given the fact that I have over 7800 miles and one mountain pass already? Please tell me that I will not have to go another 35 days?

Best case would be to knock of the remaining requirements and head back to the yard. Maybe talk with someone in training before hitting the road to get everyone on the same page about what needs to happen.

I wanted to start a thread about the Careers World Wide in Keenesburg Co for those who is planning to go there for training or has been there to share some insight about it. I just don't know how to do it. Can anyone help me out how to start it?

Best I can tell you is that I had a friend that went through your situation. He was missing NYC, the northwest and a mtn. They found a load that was picking up on Long Island and going towards Chicago. They snagged that load taking care of the NYC requirement and repowered in Cleveland (I think) with a load going to Portland, OR. They routed him and his trainer (nice English don't you think LOL) over Cabbage and on to Portland which took care of the MTN and the northwest. Then they flew him back to Dallas from Portland.

Now, I'm not sure if this will happen in your case. But if you have the mileage requirements taken care of, or close, you can bet they'll get you through it ASAP. They are more interested in paying you to drive than to train. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I'm sure not going to allow myself to be out 6 weeks and still be in your shoes. Sure the trainer has some responsibility but, I've heard it said 10 times by the counselors, if your not on track, CALL THEM. They do have the ability to get you where you need to be when its crunch time....

Everybodies right.Ok your trainer didnt do his job like he should have.We have some trainers in my opinion that have no right in being a trainer,That said,be a professional, get this phase over with, and move on.It does you no good in beating a dead horse. You got the short end of the stick on your first trainer, not the first, and certainly not the last, just give thanks that your not at Werner, where you could really have a nightmare time.Good luck to you. Bottom line, your trainer didnt do his job.We want to make money and run,but at the same time we have an obligation to make sure you get your requirements in the shortest time possible.I never take no as an answer from dispatch or my DM.I MAKE IT HAPPEN.Thats my job as a trainer.Im back on the yard and rolling Tuesday morning.
